The excellent phone app guides you through the installation and setup.
Download the Orbi app for your phone and launch it to begin the installation and setup. The app will perfectly guide you through the simple process of setting up the router and satellite(s).Pros:Great phone app is used for installation and setup, then for parental controls, for giving friendly names to mesh and user devices, and for the optional security subscription.Only one SSID (network name) for 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz bands. The device is responsible for connecting to the access point with the strongest signal, and downshifting to a lower speed and/or lower band if necessary to maintain reliability. For my iPhone XS this is automatic and nearly seamless. I can be on a WiFi call in one end of the house where my iPhone only connects on the 2.4Ghz band, walk to the other end or closer to the other access point, and my iPhone will switch to the other access point without dropping the call. If I end up close enough to the other access point to connect at 5Ghz it will do so.Not all our devices are as smart as an iPhone, but they all work with the mesh, including our Canon MX920 series printer. You can use the phone app to access your mesh via the cloud and exercise parental controls, see the status of connected devices or test your internet connection speed.Mesh firmware V2.7.4.24 is solid. The phone app is currently Version 2.21.0.239 and it's great! See attached screenshots.Cons:Some of the wait times to re-join the network during setup seem excessive, typically over a minute, but less than 5 minutes. Be patient during setup.Note:Parental controls and extra security monitoring are paid subscriptions.

Boy does this just work!
I did a LOT of research on what to use for Wi-Fi in our new house. Previously, we had a Linksys/Cisco router that had difficulty getting throughout a 980 sf home so I knew it wouldn't be enough for a 1700 sf home. I really like the idea of mesh Wi-Fi and the Orbi seemed to have some of the best reviews across the largest number of reviewers (79% 5 star across over 7,000 reviews). Not only did I take a chance on the brand, I chose Amazon Warehouse Deal to boot. I'm glad I did.The packaging was plain brown box, without the flashy Netgear graphics and images, but everything was neatly packed inside and nothing was missing. Neither the cables or the router/satellite had any scuff marks or scratches on them; they looked brand new to me.The router and satellite were truly a breeze to set up using the android app. Within 15 minutes of the cable company leaving, I had Wi-Fi from one end of the house to the other. The signal strength is excellent, even in the bedroom where the wife and I stream YT and other videos to our MS Surface Pro tablets in bed. With the old system we would have to power cycle the router at least once a week; we have yet to power cycle the Orbi and it's been running stable for nearly 2.5 months. We use both the 2.5 Ghz and the 5 Ghz bands, allowing our devices to automatically switch as needed. Moving from one room to another, there are no dead zones or signal degredation. We used to have a Cat 5e connection for our streaming computer connected to our TV but with Orbi, Wi-Fi signal strength is so good, we rarely experience any buffering and have never seen a dropped connection.Performance has, overall, been stellar and I would eagerly recommend Orbi for someone looking for this type of simple solution that just works without the need to endlessly tweak settings (of course, you can do that, if you really want to).My only Con is the price. This system is frightfully expensive, given the available options in more traditional Wi-Fi routers like the Netgear Nighthawk x10. Despite this, I think it is money well spent as this will (hopefully) last me for many years.

Fast and stable on upgraded Voxel Firmware
First, set in AP mode to eliminate confusing non-functional parental control features as well as all basic limited routing functions, deployed a much more powerful and feature rich pfSense router/firewall to moderate such functions effectively and better than just adding piHole and no subscription costs to function, not expecting any of this to "effectively" work on ANY make of home-grade "wifi routers", dedicate your equipment in layers. Next, I eliminated all wifi/ethernet bottlenecks limiting to 100mb/s or less, upgraded all cabling to cat 6/cat 7 as every singly cat 5e cable I have must be under-spec causing this bandwidth cap all except for my home-made STP cat 5e solid core cables were the only ones capable of maintaining gigabit speeds or anything more than 72mb on any speedtest and eliminated fluctuating power voltage surges from crummy '60s wiring in my house, verified to have already toasted other higher dollar electronics, with APC battery backups. Next, upgraded original Orbi router and satellites all to more stable open-source custom firmware version built by Voxel, no more un-expected random reboots/re-syncing continually, warranty already void buying used anyways. Tech support rating is of the Open-Source community of support, my warranties usually always void after the first hour out of the box. Next step, voided my new refurbished item warranty with the same custom firmware upgrades, converted RBR50v2 router into an RBS50v2 satellite (if anyone attempts this conversion step on a v2 router and think your device is bricked in a flashing bootloop, keep on hunting for or compile the correct firmware with device IDs adjusted correctly kinda how Android ROMs are ported model to model) = 2 satellites for the price of one
