Alarm works - OOD battery discharged completely
Battery was wrapped as if new. Alarm works once I installed a new battery.This was the second alarm I had bought.

Purchased this optical smoke detector to replace a faulty one on my landingThe item arrived quickly via Amazon, so not to be without a smoke detector in this area too long.When it arrived, I was very impressed on the quality of the product, ease of installing with the information pages having full instructions in all European languages. Which I wasn't surprised once I discovered it was a European productChecking it out it met all criteria in safety. Testing, quality assurance etc.I chose the 1 year battery life model as I feel it gives more assurance if replacing battery once a year.Installation was straightforward, follow the instructions, fit the base plate. Insert battery, there is a battery prevention arm that protrudes preventing fitting without battery. Once battery installed, this lever retracts. Then it was a matter of aligning head unit to base, a quick twist job done.After leaving to settle for 5 minutes, the RED operational LED intermittently flashes to give visual indication unit is working.A quick test of the push to test / push to hush. The audible alarm 85db was super loud. So now I feel safe in knowledge I have a working smoke detector at a price that won't break the bankQuality 5Company 5Ease of use 5A pleasant recommendation of 5/5 for this product from me.* Unit uses 9v battery. One is included and when deplete, around 12 months, unit will audio beep to indicate it requires changing.

False alarms after just 1 year!
Product only good for just under 1 year despite saying the sensor is good for 10 years. It started going off randomly. Changed battery but continued to do the same. Wouldn't buy again. Can't seem to return or get support from manufacturer or Amazon after this short length of time.
