I had to replace mine due to same reason. Now I wash and dry the top thoroughly and that seems to help. Maybe baking soda or vinegar solutions may help with cleaning?

I would not buy. It’s hard to clean. It gets mold inside . Breaks very easily . Does not keep water cold. Mine lasted 1 month.
