I bought this book, and a leather craft kit for my husband's birthday. He hasn't had an opportunity to start using it yet, but he said he really liked the book, and thinks it will be very useful. Apparently he'd been looking at this one for a while, and it just happened to be the one I picked. Which worked out great. He's really excited to get into leather working.

Tis very well written and portrayed with Photos taking you from very begining as to which tool or needle to use and how to use them.The big thing is they don't Lollygag around! they get down to the how to of it. If one is thinking about doing Leather crafting, this would help them decide, Most likely they would be well informed.

Getting Started in Leather Crafting.This is a great book for beginners just getting started in leather crafting. The authors cover all the basics from what leather is and how to work with it. The book is loaded with high quality color photos and set by step instructions on how to cut, stitch, stamp and die leather. It even covers attaching hardware to finished leather projects; something missing in other books. The only thing lacking is projects and patterns; there are none in this book. One or two projects would have been a nice addition. The book will show you the skills you need to work with leather; what you make is left up to you. One star off for the lack of projects.If you are just getting started, this is the book for you. If you already know the basics; it is still a nice book to refer back to occasionally as a refresher. How does that mystery braid go again?..

I'm new to leathercraft but I am a master of numerous arts and crafts. I make My living as an artist and have for 35 years now. That said, I read the Negative reviews and am absolutely puzzled as to their intention. I find this book to be a very comprehensive overview of leathercraft with excellent diagrams, photos, tools, methods and instructions. I'm sure for a more advanced leathercrafter that there may be more comprehensive instructions to delve into various techniques and projects. However, this book is an excellent resource for beginner and intermediary leathercrafters. It's well worth the price.

I like it. It doesn't go to indepth, but will certainly get you started. You can definitely get started with this book and build off of it. I'm happy with it

I ordered the spiral book so it could remain open on a table while working on my hobby. We'll it arrived damaged. Paying extra for a spiral book wasn't worth it!!

I initially hesitated purchasing this text after reading some posted negative reviews. The fact that I am reviewing it now is the result of purchasing "Getting Started in Leather Crafting" by Tony & Kay Laier, despite those reviews. I am certainly glad that I did! What needs to be clarified here are the operative words of the title... "Getting Started." From that perspective, this text is an invaluable introductory resource to terminology, technique, and practical application. This 48 page book is accentuated by the concept that "a picture is worth a thousand words" and this text contains beautifully clear reference photographs of tools, patterns, and basic procedures that are, to a great degree consistent with the secondary title "Step-by-Step Techniques & Tips for Crafting Success" with regard to technique and application. Obviously, the proficiency in the basics leads to a greater degree of experienced application and options with advanced projects. I am satisfied with the return-on-investment of the purchase price, outstanding content, and grateful to the authors for providing a condensed entry-level work on the subject of Leather Crafting or Leathercraft.
