Appropriate for post grad student

Shame for this review but necessary. I bought this book to understand the meaning of standard deviation, p-value, and significant difference in simple terms. Unfortunately the book fails to explain standard deviation calculation in the first place. I had to Google it so I understood the calculations required to obtain the result mentioned in the book. Yet thought the purpose of book should teach this instead?
