Decent Transmission for $20
So I bought this transmission to see how I liked this style in a totally custom lcg build. Overall I’m impressed, all of the gears inside are steel (still has a plastic 56t spur). It only had 1 screw holding it together when I got it and came striped out so it was a pain to get apart but I swapped out all of the screws anyways so it’s not that big of a deal. The gears were dry and needed grease but once I did that the transmission runs very quiet and is holding up very well so far. All said and done, for $20 it’s a decent little transmission and I would recommend it.

Well worth the money
This product looks and feels like original quality of the axial scx10 I installed this on. I would recommend this for anyone looking for a factory replacement.

Revised OK replacement option for SCX10II
Update a month later. The level of plastic is not the same as OEM. The transmission is definitely louder due to the plastic resonating. It works great, but it is louder which was exactly what I was trying to aid. Mechanically good tho….Old: I am impressed with the quality, especially for the price. Here is what you need to know: 1) you need to open up the case and add grease, and don’t pack it full. 2) be gentle with the cover screws to not over tighten 3) you will likely need longer screws to mount the motor to the plate as it has a very nice, thick plate molded as part of the case. Use a 3m screw maybe 14mm long with a washer and you will be just fine. No motor mount screws included. 4) when screwing in the mounting screws to the chassis you may need to push them a little bit to get the screw started. The holes are nice and tight and not difficult with a push and a turn 5) you can go down to a 9mm pinion on a 540 size motor.
