R&F Pigment Sticks are oil paint in stick form. Pigment Sticks allow the painter to draw or paint directly onto a surface without brushes, palettes, paint tubes, or solvents. We use only the basic traditional materials: natural wax (beeswax & plant wax), linseed oil, and pigment. The result is an oil stick with a lipstick soft consistency. Pigment Sticks have none of the additives, extenders, substitutes or facilitators that are commonly used in industrial production. While the use of these adulterations can save time and reduce cost, they lower the quality of the paint. Consequently, our formulas are complex and our manufacturing is labor-intensive. All paints are handmade in small batches, carefully milled and molded. R&F Pigment Sticks are available in over 100 beautiful colors, see each individual color for a description of the unique color. Beautiful medium to work with. If you like working in oil pastels this is the next step. A bit messier but you can cover far more ground!

An amazing product
Very hard to say everything that must be said about them in a short review, but bottom line is I cannot recommend them highly enough. May be wise to start with a trial set if you're not sure because they are so expensive. But I loved them and so I now have about 30 colors. They are just so nice and so fun to use. You do need more colors of these than you do with tube paints. This set of 10 in particular does not come with a white or black, and you should definitely order those. I would also recommend a gray, a brown, a purple, and an orange.They work perfectly in conjunction with tube paints, and the same solvents and oil media you would use with tube paints. I've done whole paintings with just drawing with these directly on the canvas and then a little brushing to finish and blend parts; I've also done a whole painting with these by mixing chunks of them on a palette with oil to make liquid paint; and everything in between.Bottom line is these are a top of the line, super-premium product, crammed with extreme concentration of the best pigments, easily more than capable of being used for professional work, and very much worth their high price.

My new faves.
I grab this one because I needed the iridescent and it did not disappoint. I love this brand, they are so nice and easy to work with. I only wish they dry a little faster.
