Keep reel away from dirt and grip, invest in a new flyline cause the supplied one is cheap trash.
Okay I have tried this reel out lately, it's not great, but works, the reel does not like any grit or sand in it, so be carful, even if you get a small bit in it , the reel will screech until it's clear of it. The flyline is terrible, though , there is no aerodynamics to it at all, I have a good knowledge of fly fishing and cannot get a good cast with this line at all. It cheap and nasty.

Not so heavy.
Not so great, took off reel and replaced with an older reel. Seems a bit lightweight and unspools line. Maybe need to get used to the tension setting.

I think it’s meant for left handed people
Smooth action

Great Value Reel
Converted it to left hand wind and it's remarkable for the price. Matches nicely with my 3 weigh twig. Looking forward to hassling some small stream Brown's & Rainbow's in Tasmania's fastwater southern strems next month.

As good as you can expect for the price.
For the price it’s as good as you can expect. Don’t put all of the backing on as it will not all fit with the fishing line. Put about 75-80% of the backing on.

Decent Fly Reel at Excellent Price
I mounted this fly reel on a Cabelas 9' 3wt rod as a replacement for a Ross Cimarron reel. It has the same capacity of backing and SA Mastery VPT flyline as the Ross Cimarron. The drag, while a cork disc, is very similar to the Ross drag system and preformed well, even after the reel having been submerged. The large arbor has a quicker retrieve and a smoother drag start-up than the Ross.I have Sage, Orvis, and Ross reels costing as much as $450, yet I would have no reservations using an AnglerDream on any of my rods.I've only fished with the AnglerDream 3wt reel once, but did take a nice 2.5lb Rainbow to the reel, palming the runs, thenlanded and released it ... great excitement and not once during the battle was there a time I had an issue with the reel's performance.I give the purchase 4-Stars because the fly line, connectors, and leader are really not up to the quality of the reel. I'd wish the reel was priced without the backing, fly line, connectors, and leader, since most experienced flyfishers will want a better quality setup and presentation.

It is just right for a 12 year old grandson.
It is a great fly fishing reel. Light weight, small, and easy to use. I am training one grandson to load/tie on the backing to the reel spool. Then reel it on to the proper amount to fill the reel up to the proper amount to allow the proper amount of floating fly line. Thenie on the floating fly line to the backing line. Then attach the special gripping loop to the fly line end. These are braided monofilament or nylon that work like Chinese finger locks. I am used to the no-not eyelet you push into the hollow floating fly line. Then tie on the tapered leader to this new loop. Then tie on the fly. Eventually I think I will train him to tie appropriate flies for Michigan fresh water lake fish. I have the instructions on all this drawn out for him to follow with me helping. Plus larger in diameter lines for easy seeing and handling. Once he can do this on his own. We will teach him how to mount it on his new fly rod and set it up for fly fishing. Then how to stow it for safe travels and storage. Then we will teach him how to work the rod and reel with a hookless weight for visual and dexterity feel. We will have rings on the grass in our lawn for targets to practice to. Safety glasses when we go fishing.

Works just fine for beginning fly fishers and at a very reasonable price
The fit and finish on this reel was very good considering it's price. The drag system is good ... smooth, fairly strong and easy to convert for left-handed casters.

Nice reel, just a warning....
When i stumbled upon this reel and line set up, I thought the price was right, and ordered the sucker. After the order was placed, amazon told me that it would be 2-6 weeks for delivery. About 10 days after ordering it should up in the mail! The reel is all metal and super smooth, and the backing line came on a spool, but not the fly line? So needless to say within seconds I had a monster rats nest in the fly line while trying to get the fly line one the reel. It looked like Helen Keller just tossed it in a bag and shipped it from China. 2 hours later, all the backing, fly line, and leader is on the reel, and it casts really good! The fly line is NOT looped on either end, but they included a loop connector 🤷♂️

Nice set for the price but no instructions
The reel looks fine and the backing is top notch. The fly line is WTF but the wide (weighty) part is somewhat further from the tip than other lines and there is no loop in the fly line to attach a leader. There are two loop ends in the box which do provide easy leader changing but they are very limp and don't transmit the casting effort as well as a direct link to the fly line or a stiff leader butt. The leader supplied looks of good quality as are the actual components. The fly line appears to be good quality and was loose packed but with the tip properly identified. Loading the reel by myself (no helper) required multiple untangling because of the loose packed line so try to draft a helper to hold the looped line. With all that said this is still an excellent set for the money and a great buy. It would be nice if they included directions as I was concerned that I might have to load the reel twice if I used all the backing - that was not a problem.

Reel is great, but loop connectors are trash
The reel itself is great. Cheap. Easy to use and light weight. The only issue I had was with the loop connectors. I lost my leader after a couple casts because the loop connector came off of the fly line. I recommend throwing the loop connectors away and just using traditional knots to connect everything together.

Can't beat the price, but you get what you pay for
I bought this to pair with a 1wt rod. It came with 2wt line which turned out ok with my rod. The reel is fine but not great. The drag is far from smooth. The biggest problem is the spool doesn't fit perfectly into the reel so the line can squeeze by the edges of the reel and get messed up, but it's not too bad if you pay attention. Overall this reel is fine if you are using it mainly as storage for your line not for fighting fish. For the money it's a good buy but it's definitely not a high end reel.

OK but not the best!
My main reason for only a 3 star rating is because of the fly line. I attached the end labeled to go to the reel and things went down hill fast! A major birds nest, not happy about that at all. Thanks to my wife who had the patience to untangle the fly line so I could use it! Fly line should be spooled just like the backing!!!

Cheap reel
I ordered the 2wt version of this reel, plan on using it for small native Brook Trout and Salter Brook Trout. A reel of this size is more of a line holder, not used to fight fish, instead relying on the rod to wear them out. The reel does feel cheap, and I would expect nothing less from a $25 reel. Oil the stem and bearing to make it much smoother. It Will probably hold up, with a rinse in between uses. I will report back when I actually get to fish with it.

Not great quality, also doesn’t work well.
Much cheaper design than expected. Pictures cover up a lot of blemishes and poor manufacturing. Was very difficult to switch over the handle to reel with the left hand. The instructions were unclear and it took several hours and a lot of patience to get it right because the parts did not quite fit together properly. Would not recommend. Spend the little extra money on something nicer. It doesn’t work all that well on top of what I mentioned above. Especially if it gets wet - it needs to be lubricated every time it gets wet or it starts to seize up. I will be replacing this reel soon.

I use the 1/2 weight reel with a 1-weight rod...
As you can see, I had to tape the reel to the rod. That's because the section that seats into the rod is too short, such that even when I have my seating tightened all the way up, it's loose and not snug. I can't say that it's the fault of the reel, or the rod. Still, all it took was a bit of hockey stick tape to rectify the situation. The reel itself is great. I fish small creeks and streams, so pairing this reel with a 6' 1-weight rod is perfect. I had no issues landing that trout yesterday on this outfit. However, the only issue that I have, which I contacted the seller about, is that the counterbalance weight fell off. Not sure when or how I did this, but I don't expect the counterbalance to become loose like that.

Mine arrived as a Right hand crank - for LEFT HANDERS
I wanted a small real to try on an EMMROD fly rod. I have practiced a little bit in the yard, and it seems to work fine. There were no directions, so I had to go to youtube to figure out how to set it up. ** I thought I specified right hand, and what I got was a right crank (generally for left hand users). Not sure if that was my fault? I played with it some, and decided to just switch hands to real in IF I can catch a fish. I read in the "questions" that the bearing assembly can be reversed to change the crank hand. Maybe someday?

Comes with packages of line, not pre-spooled
I ordered the 1/2 size reel. It didn't come pre-spooled, and between the backer, fly line, and tippet, it came with more line than fits on the reel. I cut a 35 foot chunk of the fly line off to create the needed clearance. The drag is smooth, the reel appears to be decently well made, and I like the small size.
