Hagen Exo Terra Electronic Day/Night Thermostat (600 Watt)

If you need a dimming thermostat, and on a budget this is the stat for u, literally my leopard gecko lies under her Deep heat projector cause she loves it so much and in perfect temp :)

Easy to use and accurate. Want buy another brand.

In the dimming mode, it only has several levels (about 5) of "dimness". I set up a test with a light bulb in a box and set the temperature to 70 degree F. It manages to maintain the temperature between 70 and 71, but instead of keeping the light bulb at a constant brightness, the bulb would turn off for a while, then turn on to level 1 (brightness), then level 2, then level 3, then the device finds the temperature has overshot to 71 and turn off the bulb. The father the probe is from the bulb, the more it would overshoot. In my test, the probe is 1cm away from the bulb.I thought a proportional controller would keep the heater (bulb) at a more constant level. Instead, it is behaving more like an on/off controller.BTW, the LCD screen has very narrow viewing angle.

Really great product just was unable to use it do the width of the cord itself.

I've been looking into getting one for the past few years, and FINALLY, I was getting one! (Yipee~!) I was thinking of the usual ones we see all over the place, the simple on/off thermostats, but I noticed one key thing - they didn't have an automatic shut off/fail safe, or at least if they did, they didn't advertise it. Boo. Then I came across this one and I came across the reviews for this one. It has the dimming feature, which for a ceramic over the top heating element is FANTASTIC, and pulse proportional which...OK. It can be programmed for day/night temperatures which, cool, I guess that would mimic what a snake would experience in the wild and as keepers, we want to do that in a controlled environment, so I was sold. There were some reviews that mentioned that the day/night feature wasn't so accurate, but not enough to turn me away from the product. WELL. Those reviews were correct. It doesn't accurately switch from day to night, and it will even randomly change from Celsius to Fahrenheit, and as an unsophisticated American, it freaks me out when I randomly see that my snake's enclosure is 24 degrees. The day/night cycle would probably be best if it had a timer instead of a light sensing probe, which doesn't work. The day/night feature is also not as important as I thought it would be and have since changed both options to the same thing in case it randomly switches modes. The probe itself also is not entirely accurate. Not enough that you can't work around it - for example, my hognose needs a warm spot of 90 degrees, so I've set the thermostat to 88 and the hot side doesn't go above 93.HOWEVER, for the features, digital read out, and relative ease of programming and switching back and forth from Celsius and Fahrenheit, not terrible. I have only had this up and running for about a week, so as to my sanity in the long run, we shall see....

Love this little controller, works great and accurate, holds temp +/- 0.3°. Was easy to set up definently recommend.

I bout one that works decent so I figured I'd buy another for the price cant really beat it... then when my second one came it barely worked dimmed the light out for no reason and wasn't reading temp right at all they send me another one witch is worse then the other one not happy right now

This is an upgrade for my snake enclosure. The temp has been consistent since adding. Not up and down.
