The B-42 Black Mars 500 was created to mark the beginning of the Mars 500 experiment, a flight simulation that is to last 520 days. Only 2012 such watches have been released on the market. Each timepiece from the collection is equipped with Swiss-made 220 movement that performs 28 800 vibrations per hour and has 26 bearing jewels. Additional movement characteristics include Incabloc shock absorber and fine timing device. Hands, numerals and indices are covered with luminous paint that enhances night time readability. A day and date display is positioned at the 3 o'clock mark. Indications are bilingual, coming in both English and German. A rotating bezel is available to measure elapsed time. Additional useful features include a crown with the Fortis logo, screw-down titanium case back embossed with the emblems of Russian space authorities, individual numbering and scratch-resistant sapphire crystal glass with anti-reflective coating.
