Doesn't catch all the grass, and was a bit pricy, but catches majority, so still better than raking! Fills up fast, so recommend for small yard, where you mow regularly.

I bought the McLane mower used. I paid almost as much for the grass catcher. It works well and is easy to use. It's a little noisy and freaks the dog out, but he'll get used to it. If you need a grass catcher and you have a mower this one fits, you will not be disappointed. The only thing to improve the experience would be to have an electric mower. This is far too much work! =8-)

bought this catcher for my mcclane 17" 7 blade reel mower. it is to small they must have sent me one for 15" 5 reel mower.iam not sure what the other reviewer received they must have received a different one than i did since there is no way i received one for a 17" mcclane reel mower.i have bought alot from amazon and i must say this is the first time they have made a mistake

Because of the design it doesn't hold as much as its size would suggest which means frequent stops to empty it or else large chunks of cut grass falls back in to the blades and on the grass. It also has a tendency to bounce around and work itself loose if you have an uneven lawn. Otherwise this works well and does what you need it too with a few issues.

First of all, why would anyone design a grass catcher that goes IN FRONT of a reel mower? It takes up so much space that you're not able to get the front of the mower as close to an object (i.e. fence, tree, flower bed barriers etc.) And so the only way to get close is to go sideways against the object.Secondly and more important is that it doesn't take long before the sides of the catcher plugs up with grass clippings to where the catcher no longer catches the grass. If you have a thick lawn to cut, prepare yourself for having to empty this catcher a lot to where it becomes a nuisance.Other than that, the gas reel mower that this goes with this is probably one of the best mowers around although it's a bit expensive. But this catcher or their grass catching system has to be redesigned so that it functions better.It took me quite a long time to mow my small back yard due to having to empty and fight with this grass catcher a lot. Very frustrating.

I have two 7 Blade McLane (Craftsman branded) mowers. They work different from traditional rotary blade mowers in that the use a stationary blade and the 7 helical reel blades slide against it, causing a scissoring action. The reel throws the cut blades of grass forward by design to help mulch the debris. The mower cuts lower and cleaner than the traditional unit, but the only place to catch grass with this design is forward. This does it well but you never want to clip more than a third of the blade so be ready to keep your grass neat mow more often or let it get longer and catch it everytime. This will get heavy with wet grass and catches just enough to remind you to mow more often mulching or get a different mower. Great catcher but know what you are up against.

I had been looking for this type of grass catcher for quite some time and at the right price. Each time I found it, it was close to $100.00 and so I thought that I'd try second-hand stores and yard sales but never found any and plus, 17" grass catchers were tricky to find. I tried Ebay and still nothing. Finally, I found it on Amazon for half the price of local gardening stores. It was initially out of stock but Amazon informed me by email when they had it availiable. The catcher fits perfectly on my McLane lawnmower and does it's job of grass catching superbly. It seems very durable and I hope that it lasts for a long time. The shipping was very fast and I am very satisfied with my product and would recommend this item and my experience with Amazon to anyone. Thanks.
