I had never made a cyanotype before trying this kit. The instructions were clear and easy to follow. I wanted to make a "sun print" of emu feathers. In addition to the materials that come with the kit, you will need a sheet of glass or plexiglass, a board or cardboard, some clips, a shallow container for the mixed chemicals that is large enough for the sponge brushes, a dark workspace, a red light or dim light, a rack to dry your paper in the dark work space and a light proof storage box or bag for you unused paper. I worked in a closet using a red head lamp and dried my paper between 12"x12" sheets of scrap plywood I had cut for a different project. The chemicals do stink a bit so I wanted to have everything ready and work fast. I used 3mm clear acrylic to press the feathers onto the paper. The acrylic definitely filtered out some of the UV light so it took longer to expose the prints, but experimentation is half the fun with things like this. Although my first print turned out pretty dark (I could have rinsed it a bit longer), the details are fabulous when the paper is back-lit. Since I intend to use the cyanotypes in my lamps, this is actually perfect. I did not use any hydrogen peroxide in the wash water for fear of losing detail. The prints are bright blue after washing and darken as expected within about 24 hours. It is easy to prepare a lot of paper at one time since it will keep for up to 6 months. I could not be happier with my results. I am excited to try other techniques - and there are plenty of demos online.

It’s not difficult at all but you need to follow the instructions. I grabbed an older tshirt for my first try. But… it was a cotton/polyester mix and nothing happened - my fault, it will not work on synthetic material. So then I used watercolor paper and I love the result!i highly recommend this for any nature lover, for home schooling parents and for whoever likes nature inspired crafts. The current price of $20 goes down to $16 with the 20% coupon. The 2 bottles will last for dozens of prints. All else you need is to just gather some interesting plant materials - and work in the dark (see instructions).

This kit is incredible. You get everything you need to make cyanotype prints, and it’s such a fun DIY. Perfect for projects with kids or honestly any age. Super easy to use, and I’m so excited to make so many things with it. Just a really cool, creative kit. Love it.

I got this as a gift for my four year old as a fun thing to do outside. Firstly I'm impressed with how much of it you get. I was worried it would only be enough stuff for one or two prints but it seems like there's a ton in here. It's raining today (of course) but I'm excited for when the sun comes back. The kit seems well rounded and everything you need is there, which is so nice. I know my kiddo will have a blast, and so will I!I'll update once I use all of it (something I expect will take several sessions) and give a more in depth review and tell exactly how long it all lasts.But so far I'm really impressed and excited!! :)

My neighbor has gotten into this medium in the last year. It sounded really complicated in terms of dealing with mixing the chemicals. I wanted to start experimenting with it without getting involved in the chemistry of mixing the reagents. This kit is definitely the way to go. It was very simple and straightforward, leaving me to focus on the creative aspect of my projects.It’s a great craft and there’s enough to make tons of prints. I like that I could print on fabric as well as paper. It was a lot of fun. Even little kids can successfully do this art. 10/10

My daughter has been showing a great interest in arts and crafts for the past year or so. I am trying to encourage her with different types of projects so I was excited to request this kit and make some cyanotypes with her.I’ll start off by saying I’ve never done a cyanotype before. For the most part I think they’ve done well providing details instructions for how to use on paper and Digital Negatives. You can make a decent amount of prints from the amount in the bottles - definitely 20+ (maybe even up to 60 on paper)Super fun if you're into print making, or if your kids are into arts and crafts!
