D Day Landings
This replica copy of the Evening Standard for June 6 1944 is an ideal way for students and teachersto bring WWII history alive. The newspaper is an 8 page edition, plus a poster size copy of theMetzer Zeitung: a Nazi Propaganda broadsheet for the same date which shows in both English andGerman how the Nazi regime played things down. The news of the day was of course the D Day Landings or Allied invasion of Europe under the commandof General Eisenhower. News in wartime was a lot more "low key" than our modern media, and the fontsize of wartime newspapers was much smaller due to paper shortages, but nevertheless the salientpoints are all there. An armada of over 4,000 ships and smaller craft crossed the Channel as part ofthe beach landings backed up by airborne support.Whilst all this heroic activity was taking place on both sides of the English Channel, life at homeseems to have kept to as 'normal' a routine as possible. There are adverts for ladies dresses andreversible macs. London restaurants sold dinner from 4/6d, and Noel Coward's "This Happy Breed" wasshowing at the cinema, whilst Persian Gulf won the Coronation Cup at Newmarket. With a sober reminderthat Blackout time was from 10 57 pm until 05.00 am.These replica newspapers give insights into the Second World War that cannot readily be foundelsewhere. The size of this product is 37 cm by 28 cm a wartime tabloid. An interesting read for all.

An interesting historical replica.
This is an interesting little piece of historical replica work. It gives you a complete copy of the newspaper of the day and as its a replica you don't have to worry about handling it too carefully like you would the real deal.Enjoyable to read how the events of the day were recorded and a fun item to have lying around at a reenacting event or themed party.

Excellent for a WWII buff
Got this as an early birthday present for a friend of mine but couldn't help reading it myself.Feels very authentic and looks great, though the main story is the D-day landings there is more news in the newspaper reflective of that time period, great value for money that's going to make someone very happy

Good but not interesting enough
Good but son, inspite of loving anything WWII, hasn't been interested enough to look at them. I think its because they are copies which is what I expected.
