Excellent, authentic seasoning for puerto rican dishes and more
I learned how to cook puerto rican food from my mother in law. She recommended this seasoning and it really is good. I use it when I am cooking beans of any color. The seasoning is rich and flavorful but not spicy like mexican food can be. I also use it when roasting potatoes and other mixed vegetables. The seasoning is so balanced and pleases everyone. This is a very versatile seasoning.

Good stuff - easy to use
This is an excellent flavoring! I am so glad that I got this because I use it frequently now. I got it in a few months ago and have found it is most excellent in rice, soups, and all sorts of things. It does have some flavor enhancement in it, and when I use it I find I have to use a little bit less salt. It's even excellent in burgers. It can add a bit of coloring- one or two envelopes is going to make a white stew have a bit of a yellowish hue, for example. I always keep this on hand in the kitchen now.

Lots of packets. Lots of flavor. Some salt and MSG.
First of all, a pack of 18 units is a lot = that's nearly enough for every day in a year if used daily. There must be a group of folks who really enjoys this in every meal. The packets are very easy to use, though it seems like it would be far less wasteful to just get this product in the jar, alas, then you'd need a measuring spoon. And yes, the competition makes it in a jar, at a far lower per unit price than even this case. So, how does it make food taste? Well, I had purchased pure annatto/achiote for a Mexican pork dish years ago and this reminds me of that. I've sprinkled it on at least three meals to date -- that includes chicken thighs, pork chops, a veggie stir-fry -- you name it. And yes, your food will look really really orange. There's a bit of that umami taste that MSG brings out, and nothing tastes terribly "salty" or "spicy" when used. I guess the best descriptor is what Goya calls it, the "Latin" flavor, even though that's a really broad term. What the description doesn't tell you is that in addition to the spices, there's MSG. MSG -- well, that might be less sodium that pure salt, but may cause health issues for some. I'm not aware of MSG causing any issues for me or my family, nonetheless, I don't use it daily.Definitely make sure you like the stuff before you buy a case. And you might want to make sure a generic brand doesn't serve your needs similarly for less.
