Includes a bonus disc featuring ‘Pokémon: The First Movie’. Pokémon the Movie: I Choose You! is an origin story highlighting Ash & Pikachu's first meeting and their adventures as they search for the legendary Pokémon Ho-Oh. The iconic pair encounter familiar faces along the way, new characters including Trainers Verity and Sorrel, and even a mysterious new Mythical Pokémon, Marshadow. Challenges and epic Pokémon battles abound in this unique story about the beginning of one of the most beloved friendships in popular culture. Catching ‘em all starts with one… When Ash Ketchum oversleeps on his 10th birthday, he ends up with a stubborn Pikachu instead of the first partner Pokémon he wanted! But after a rocky start, Ash and Pikachu become close friends and true partners—and when they catch a rare glimpse of the Legendary Pokémon Ho-Oh in flight, they make plans to seek it out together, guided by the Rainbow Wing it leaves behind. Trainers Verity and Sorrel join Ash on his journey. Along the way, Ash catches an abandoned Charmander, raises a Pokémon from Caterpie to Butterfree and then releases it to follow its heart, and meets the mysterious Mythical Pokémon Marshadow. When they near their goal, the arrogant Cross— Charmander’s former Trainer—stands in their way! Can Ash and Pikachu defeat this powerful Trainer and reach Ho-Oh as they promised, or will their journey end here?

Cousins Birthday
As a child of the 90'S Pokémon is very nostalgic for me. Although this is based on the Indigo League from 1997, it's family friendly and my cousin will enjoy it.

Perfect for new and old fans alike!
Great spin on the original story of Ash and Pikachu in Kanto! Would be a perfect introduction for a new Pokemon fan, but there’s also tons in this film to please old fans too - plenty of references to previous anime’s and films, as well as tons of new content! Really enjoyed it!

Gotta Watch 'em All!
What can I say, I'm a fan of Pokemon and I'm a harsh critic in movies, I expect only the best, since Pokemon 2000...well this movie was beyond awesome and I loved every minute of it :)

No bonus first movie
I purchased this on preorder as a valentine gift for my boyfriend. On the description It says that a bonus dvd with the first pokemon movie was included, that's why I decided to buy it. Though when it arrived there was just one dvd, which was "I choose you". Nice movie, but still disappointed

Ambitious Revival of the Pokemon Movies (with a dash of nostalgia)
I'm wondering if the reason some people have received copies of this item without the bonus disc is because they had '1 disc version' selected by mistake when ordering, instead of '2 disc version', since they both listed on the page. That being said, I received a copy with both discs and am pleased to report that this version of 'Mewtwo Strikes Back' is the widescreen version! Sadly there are no bonus features (so no Pikachu's Vacation short), audio or subtitle options on the disc and the few minutes of footage cut from the beginning (and later released on Mewtwo Returns as a bonus) is still missing. Also, surprisingly, the audio is not surround sound, meaning the soundtrack quality is affected, and audio effects they used to convey the difference between Mewtwo's telepathy and private thoughts have been lost.Moving on to 'I Choose You' - I really enjoyed this alternate timeline take on Ash's journey. There are a number of references to the original series sprinkled throughout (the most being the first few minutes of the movie) to give older fans a nostalgia trip, but for the most part the story is its own creature, with Ash somewhat more competent from the start, his travelling companions being unique to this film and nods to a variety of generations all the way up to Alola. The art is crisp and gorgeous to look at, the animation is dynamic and captures the high energy action beautifully, and the dub soundtrack backed up the visuals fine. I do enjoy the credits song they made for this one. For note, only the English audio track is included, with subtitles for the hard of hearing. On the downside the film suffered from a case of not quite knowing what it wanted to do with trying to showcase new Pokemon Marshadow alongside Ho-oh, which resulted in some concepts - especially the whole Rainbow Hero thing - being unclear and confusing. The outcome of the final scene was also kind of disappointing - missing out on a huge opportunity to showcase one of Ho-oh's main abilities, instead leaving matters to resolve themselves seemingly out of convenience.Overall I had a great time with 'I Choose You'. It got daring in places and took gambles which we haven't seen these films doing in a long while. There were a couple of genuinely moving scenes, one of which got me choked up. A worthwhile viewing, despite a couple of flaws. I am looking forward to the second movie in this alternate timeline!

Brilliant
My son loves this. It never came out in our local cinema so he's been looking forward to seeing it for ages. I used to watch pokemon as a child and I love this too! The graphics are amazing and a good story line

I choose you
Great blast from the past. A retelling of how things might of been if events happened in a different way from the anime. Some fans might be annoyed about this but still an interesting movie. Overall worth a watch if your a Pokemon fan.
