very sturdy, solid safe with a good amount of room. came with a shelf but i have it door up for now, so not using the shelf.some people said it's not waterproof if you mount it because you have to drill holes, but according to the manual the included plugs will keep it from leaking. i haven't mounted mine, it's heavy enough (55lbs empty) with stuff in it that if someone actually broke in and got to it they would have a heavy load.seems very secure. no problems with keypad open. comes with 2 keys to manually open it if the batteries die or should the digital keypad fail. no problems with warping or anything like some reviews state.the code is factory preset and that cannot be changed. you can program other codes of your choice, but the factory code will always work, you can't overwrite it.the batteries are supposed to last 5 years. i open it several times a week, but not daily. bought some spare batteries just in case, to have on hand (can buy them anywhere, not expensive or specialized).it's not the cheapest safe out there, but the reviews on the lower cost ones really made them sound pretty useless. this one seems to be very secure, should withstand fire and water. of course if you are really wanting to protect valuables or papers from fire and/or water damage, you should seal them in a fire/waterproof case too. heat - even if it doesn't breach the safe - can damage things.

Very convenient and sturdy for where I need it. I wanted an option to keep things secure but still readily accessible. This fit the bill and the controls work well.

Solid and well made. Seems very secure, though I wish the backup keys were a more secure design and not the round kind - those are fairly easy to pick. I really wish there was a smaller size of this exact model; this safe is quite large and bulky and it was hard to find a place for it in my small house where the door could open fully. It's got more space than I need inside, so I really wish there were a more compact option for those of us who just need to lock up a few items.

Massively disappointed in this safe. I purchased and set it up and for the first few weeks, everything was great. But within about a month of purchasing it the digital code would no longer unlock the safe and I couldn’t access my items; the code was correct but the bolt motors would make a whirring sound and get stuck and the door wouldn’t open.Even the keys would barely, and not reliably, open the door. Ended up having to use brute strength with a physical key and the handle with the safe on its back to get the bolts to disengage.Probably opened the door maybe 4 times before it no longer opened. Digital keypad still has 0% success rate, and I’m worried the key will break if I use it to open the door again due to the difficulty.Effectively a giant paperweight after a month.

We've been talking about getting a safe for more important and irreplaceable papers that is fireproof and waterproof. Very easy to open...small enough yet large enough to serve our needs. Pleased with the purchase.
