Distant Satellites

Following We're Here Because We're Here and Weather Systems must have been daunting, but this is a triumph. Right from the get go it is Anathema through and through. Intensity, emotion, varied repetition, anthemic melodies, really superbly crafted songs. Lee Douglas sings beautifully, Vincent Cavanagh with energy and passion, the songs, well Danny seems to have the knack - he's found his voice as they say - and then the collaborations just make the difference. If you like intelligent, interesting rock music with somewhat spiritual lyrics, then this will keep you awake at night as the melodies reverberate in your head.

Great band, great album, well worth buying!

This is my first experience of Anathema. The review in prog Rock was spot on and I now find myself liking another superb band.

Gentle stuff but good music and a depth of mood in all the tracks.Sometimes a bit too much orchestra for my taste but it is what I expect from Anathema and I enjoyed the album

Es wird ja immer viel über Anathema diskutiert dass die Band sich von Ihren Wurzeln im Doom Metal entfernt hätten. Ja, und das ist auch gut so. Distant Satelite ist dann auch die konsequente Weiterentwicklung der Band. Ich bin zwar erst seit gut einem Jahr Fan dieser Band aber das die Jungs/Madel da leisten ist phänomenal. Im November ist Anathema in Köln Live zu sehen. Ich würde mal sagen, wer nicht dabei sein kann hat was verpasst.

magnifico album in digipack con un cd musicale ed un dvd che ha,al suo interno,le stesse tracce del cd ma riproposte in formato dvd con tanto di pitture oniriche a rendere l'atmosfera,qualora si optasse il dvd.I brani di questo nuovo album sono eccezionali,ottimamente ispirati ed in linea con gli ultimi album pubblicati da questa eccellente band ,band con uno stile unico,che fonde il gothic metall ,il rock alternativo ed altri stili musicali ,in qualcosa di eccezionale e mai sentito prima.Bellissimo anche il libretto inserito nella confezione,molto ispirato.Album consigliatissimo.

Anathema seem to be on a bit of a roll right now releasing great album after great album. This one builds on their last couple, going in generally the same direction but continuing to grow. For those not familiar with their recent work, while some people define it as progressive rock it is more in the atmospheric end of the genre, relying on strong songwriting and mood.The album (at least my version) also comes with a DVD 5.1 surround sound mix which is well worth listening to as well.

Con colpevole ritardo ho scoperto questa band che in passata faceva musica decisamente più "tosta".Tuttavia, sul percorso della continua evoluzione e ricerca, si sono staccati dalle radici degli esordi per sviluppare ad ogni nuova uscita un suono più personale e atmosferico affine a sonorità progressive rock e art rock.E' il decimo album e ripercorre in parte i temi del precedente album (Weather Systems), portandosi, nella seconda parte, verso un'ulteriore sviluppo delle sonorità segnatamente rappresentato da un forse eccessivo utilizzo di campionamenti elettronici.Il 6/10/2014 suoneranno all'Alcatraz di Milano.

Reprenant les choses là où Weather Systems (2012) les avait laissées, Distant Satellites n'offrira pas de grosses surprises à ceux qui suivent la carrière d'Anathema. C'est un très bon album, et même meilleur que Weather Systems car beaucoup plus homogène : il y a, pour moi en tout cas, plus de bons titres.Parmi les titres que j'apprécie plus, "The Lost Song", "Ariel", "Anathema" (l'un de leur top ten, tout simplement), "Distant Satellites " (encore un top ten) ou pour finir "Take Shelter". Rarement "Anathema" ou ""Distant Satellites" aura porté le groupe à un tel niveau épique, de maîtrise, de beauté et de sentiments. La puissance émotionnelle qui y est dégagée est sublimée par les meilleures mélodies que nos amis nous ont écrites.Il y a fort à parier que ces chansons ont été écrites à la même période que Weather Systems tellement elles sont proches en terme de direction musicale, de son ou de puissance de mélodies. Mais là où Anathema est encore plus fort, c'est que, deux ans après Weather Systems, ils arrivent à nous sublimer encore un peu plus leur travail.Vivement leur prochain album, prévu cette année...

aber eine gelungene Fortsetzung von Anathemas Reise in Alternative-Rock-Gefilden.Nach "We're Here Because We're Here" und dem für mich genilaen "Weather Systems" wirkt "Distant Satellites" zuweilen tanzbar, da sich der Drummer John Douglas erstmalig am Songwriting beteiligt ist und stilprägend Einfluss hat.Anathema geben selber zu, dass sie das Rad mit dem Album nicht neu erfunden haben, da sie es auch nicht wollten; vielmehr sollten alle Stärken der Band gebündelt werden. So werden auch verlorene Songs durch neue ersetzt, andere auf der zweiten Hälfte des Albums sind dagegen teilweise älter.Schönes Werk, das wieder einmal sehr stimmungsvoll den Hörer einfängt.

Ho rispedito indietro il vinile dopo tre mesi!Non lo ascoltato subito e mi sono accorto solo adesso che il disco non solo presenta un rumore di fondo,ma distorce sui pieni.Peccato,gli altri dischi degli Anathema sono ok.Amazon me l'ha rispedito,ma la musica è la stessa.Ho anche una versione in files flac e quella è perfetta.Meglio il cd!!Bravissima Amazon,molto meno la Kscope!Riguardo il contenuto artistico non potevano fare di meglio.Speriamo che si smentiscano.

Nuovo capolavoro per la band inglese, nuova evoluzione rispetto al precedente e altrettanto bellissimo album.Questo nuovo album si presenta molto intimo e rarefatto. Costruito più sul pianoforte anziché la chitarra e grande spazio alle voci, intrecciando benissimo quella maschile e femminile. Songwriting maturo e raffinato con una componente elettronica in più rispetto al passato fanno di questo album un piccolo gioiello.

Album fantastico, la giusta "conclusione" di un percorso avviato con "We're Here Because We're here" e proseguito poi con "Weather Systems"!!Da avere assolutamente, anche soltanto per il brano "Anathema" (traccia vincitrice del Prog Award 2014 nella categoria "Miglior Brano).Spedizione puntualissima come sempre.

Otra obra maestra de los genios del progresivo que acentúan todavía más la línea musical que ya iniciaron con "We're Here because We're Here" aunque acordándose de sus raíces y su posterior evolución en algún tema.El 'packaging' de esta edición es excelente; un digibook que no sólo contiene el cd sino que además incluye un DVD con el álbum masterizado en 5.1 y stereo en 24 bits para aquellos que tengan equipos adecuados para reproducirlo y disfrutar de él con un sonido impecable.

Another solid album from Anathema. No surprises, and maybe it's its only flaw. There are no ups and downs and compared to weather systems it loses a little bit of steam...but nevertheless,good job!

Si, eso, poner el disco y dejarse llevar, a volar. Estos tíos son unos maestros en lo suyo. Las atmósferas, los ambientes y la emoción que desprenden sus canciones te catapultan a lugares a los que solo ellos te saben llevar. Anathema son muy grandes, muy infravalorados. A salientar la canción "Anathema". Se me eriza el bello cada vez que la escucho. 5 estrellas.

Una band eccezionale, ogni nuovo album è semplicemente magnifico. E anche questo non fa eccezione. Una band da ascoltare e riascoltare: grande musica, emozionante e coinvolgente!

Che dire ... questo gruppo finora non mi ha ancora deluso. Quest'album è pieno di "perle". Scoprirle sarà per voi un piacere, per me lo è stato. Grandi!!!
