The Complete Harmonica Method: Chromatic (Book/Online Audio) (Includes Online Access Code)

As mentioned by other buyers, be aware that constant reference is made ti it's sister publication that deals with the diatonic harmonica. If you already play a diatonic you'll probably have sufficient knowledge to move on to the chromatic through this book, if not then you might be wise to buy the diatonic one & work from this for a while first. Otherwise it's laid out well & offers a range of scale practices that will be needed to maximise your skill on the chromatic.

This is not a particularly well thought out method. There are few practical tips, and some explanations are vague or confusing. As another reviewer stated, basically a list of modes and scales (with some tunes) which are common to all general music learning. What is written is musically not wrong, but - as a learning method for budding harmonica players - rather uninspiring and ultimately unsatisfactory.

This book starts with a fairly minimal explanation of how the harmonica works a little paragraph on holding the harmonica an inadequate explanation of working the slide. The section on producing a sound (inhale / exhale) advises you to look up the Hal Leonard Complete Harmonica Method - Diatonic Harmonica (Wasn't this supposed to be the complete Chromatic method? I feel this is an unwelcome and rather dishonest sales pitch). This is followed by an explanation of the "Curled Toungue Method" - useful only to those who can curl their toungues - the ability is genetic. So far I'm not favorably impressed. There is some useful material here and the CD does seem to cover pretty much everything in the book. However, the educational value of this book to a complete novice is rather questionable.NOT recommended.

Pretty good but too advanced for me . My mistake

I thought this book would do a little more teaching before getting rather advanced. Without prior knowledge of music it does not mean very much!

excellent book to lern harmonica and follow step by step.

You'll need some experience to get the most from this book but it's a great place to start.

Plenty of varied examples to build technique and navigate the chromatic harmonica....
