The Baby Who Wouldn't Go To Bed

A great story for younger kids.
Read this to my kids, and it was a favourite of both my boy and girl. The pictures are amazing, lots of detail for them to look at and spot the references in the text. There's a great sense of imagination here - and encourages the kids to see their toys as more than just objects, but things that "play with you", rather than you just paying with them (if that makes any sense). Loved it so much I bought it as a present for someone else when they had their first baby.

Soft and sleepy, and perfect for bedtime - I love this book
This is a perfect bedtime book for both boys and girls up to 3 years old or so. The story is simple yet delightful, the pace is soft and sleepy, and I regularly find myself almost asleep by the end of it, and my little one snuggles with me. I particularly love the drawings and I think they work even better in this smaller (hardback) format than the larger (paperback) one.We originally got this book out from the library, and I fell in love with it enough to not only buy a copy for my son (now inherited by his little sister) but also to seek out copies for nephews and nieces and friend's babies! The hardback edition is only available second hand, but I love it so much that I've bought 4 or 5 now!The paperback is available new and is also charming, but there is something special about this hardback version for me.

The baby who wouldn't go to bed, until at last!!!
This is such a good book. Helen Cooper has written an extremly good short story to read without getting tired of it but having the effect of getting ones toddler to sleep. The illustrations are unusual and memorable. The baby will not go to bed and speeds off in his car, he tries to convince others along his ride to play but they are too sleepy. Eventually he hears his mother calling and she takes him to bed where he nods off very happily. There is always a kind of story line mixed with thought and behaviour, not a bad thing. This one even teaches the baby that his poor Mum has not been able to go to bed because she has been so worried.

Perfect
This is the most perfect children's story that I ever come across. I never tire of reading it to my sons. The story very cleverly has two points of view - that of the child and that of the adult - The child is off having amazing adventures, but the adult can see that he is simply playing with the toys in his bedroom and later being carried to the bathroom! I just love it! The words and the lay out are perfectly done so that the rythm slows down as the story progresses and I always start yawning myself before the end of the story! Do yourself and your children a favour and read them this story!

Nice illustrations, but a bit creepy.
It seems like a more old-fashioned book to me, with tigers and soldiers and so on.My son likes it enough though I wasn't impressed and was going to send it back.

Favourite bed time book
Both my daughter's loved this book at bedtime and asked for it consistently from a young age. They loved the illustrations. They are older now but I have brought a couple for other people's children and hope to one day share it with grandchildren. A classic book.

Wonderful classic
This is an absolute gem, delighting all mothers (and fathers) and little children who have read it that I know of. The words are poetry and the illustrations are high art. It is witty, and gentle, and deep, giving endless pleasure to young and old. And especially to babies who won't go to bed!

Baby

Used book
I love this book, but the book I received was used from a library sale. The spin is damaged and barely holding the book together. They bought it for $0.50 and sell it for $6.
