Easy preparation doesn'i impair the flavor.
I bought this product before and will certainly buy it again. I'm not an expert on Indian food, but like all about it: rich flavor, dense aroma, quick and (very important to me) foolproof preparation. Eat it with white rice and you have a simple and delicious meal.

India-NOMMMMM FOOD!
I bought the Kidney Bean Curry and a few other of the Kitchens of India ready to eat packages when Amazon had them for the deal of the day. I believe they winded up coming out to about $1.50 per 10oz package, which isn't to shabby considering regular price they are about $3-3.50 each regular price. This was the first flavor I decided to taste.Upon opening the package and placing it into a bowl I could see a ton of oil floating on the top. I don't understand why most food makers / chef's feel the need to add so much oil to their dishes, but it was a bit offsetting to look at.I pressed out as much as I could from the package, but there did not seem to be a lot. Be careful too when opening because it comes sliding out pretty quickly and you can end up with a big mess!I was thinking I would not be able to eat it all in one sitting before I opened the package, but after pouring it in the bowl I could clearly see it wasn't going to be enough at all to fill me up.That being said, you definitely are going to want to eat this with something else such as naan or rice. I wouldn't expect to open a package, eat it alone, and fill you up.Now onto the taste...I can definitely taste the cumin. Seems a bit strong in the dish, but it wasn't too overpowering. Also, I like my food spicy and normally add more spice to already spicy food. But with this one I didn't add any spices.I was not a strong spice at all but it was still spicy enough for me (on that particular day, lol).Overall, I liked the taste of the ready to eat Kidney Bean Curry. I dont think I would pay full price for them based of the portion size being seemingly small, but if they are on sale I would probably get more later on down the road.I can not wait to taste the others as well, and although it definitely does not replace the great taste of going to an authentic Indian restaurant, the price you will pay for these compared to the restaurant is pretty substantial savings if you ask me!

Health, Satiety, Convenience
This is a fantastic product for people who are watching what they eat, cutting calories, or just enjoy a simple, savory heat-and-serve meal. I have this automatically sent to me, six packages at a time, because in our household, we eat it regularly.Simple ingredient list is water, tomatoes, onions, red kidney beans, sunflower oil, garlic, spices, salt, and ginger. It has only 120 calories per serving (2.5 per package), 5 grams of protein, 3.5 grams of vegetable fat (from sunflower seed oil), and 10% of your daily intake of iron. It has no animal fats which means it has no cholesterol. On my eating plan (Weight Watchers), it works well, even if I have the entire package for a meal -- 300 calories and lots of energy from the complex carbs and 10 grams of protein. I can go four or five hours, easily, on this energy without feeling ravenous or lethargic before my appetite returns. Because of the wonderful flavors and richness, I feel satisfied without feeling bloated or slowed down. It is "delicately spiced." Perfect for me.I love that it is made in India. I feel like I am eating like royalty, savoring the delights of other nations which is a true indulgence and luxury. I savor the experience, not just the meal itself.ProsNo cholesterol, no animal productsEnergy with no crashSatisfies without overdoing itConvenient, easy to heat and serve,DELICIOUS, "delicately spiced"Authentic Indian foodConsNone.

Most delicious chili (curry) I've ever had.
I've already bought a lot more packages.

I see why others like it...but not for me.
I'm always wary when buying food items on the basis of Amazon reviews. I've found the average reviewer (especially when dealing with ethnic foods) still prefers items that are Americanized or similar to American foods...like when reviewers blast umeboshi for (of all things) being too salty or grumble about seaweed tasting too much like the sea.So when this cropped up as a good seller, I should have known better. It still gets five stars because I found the quality, packaging, and ease of preparation to be great. Almost all of the beans retained their shape and texture, the seasonings were good, it was easy to prepare and had no strange aftertaste from the packaging, and it arrived in an easy-to-store box in which all the individual packets fit in perfectly. However, I won't be buying again. Why? Because it tastes like chili. Oh, there's a subtle hint of spice and the quality definitely sets it apart from Hormel, but for all intents and purposes, it tastes like meatless chili. I can see why that would appeal to a lot of people who might find stronger and more unique Indian foods off-putting...but I was in search of strong and unique and this just doesn't fit the bill.

Not organic
I love the flavor of this product, it’s plant-based and made with an admirable attempt at sustainability. So why isn’t it made with organic ingredients? I once found a similar Rajma that was organic but not vegan, now I’m considering looking for it.
