This is spot on, look no further
The media could not be loaded. I absolutely love my Star Trek Universe: Original Series 21" U.S.S. Enterprise Ship! It's the perfect addition to my office alongside my commercial airlines model. The scale is spot on, making it a stunning display piece. Every time I glance at it, it takes me back to the nostalgic days of watching the STAR TREK TV series as a kid. This is actually my third model purchase, and finally, I've found one worth keeping. Unlike the previous two, this one boasts excellent quality, from the intricate details to the captivating lights and sounds. The only minor downside is the stand, which could be a bit sturdier, but it's a small price to pay for such a fantastic replica. If you're a Star Trek fan or just appreciate quality collectibles, don't hesitate any longer. "Live Long and Prosper" by adding this gem to your collection—it's truly worth it!

Great Enterprise model
I am not a Trekkie person and I thought this was a model kit. I am an experienced modeller and I did not read the product description well enough to learn otherwise. It's OK by me. This version of Enterprise is more a display than a kit but it's really smooth looking and authentic. The size and detail is right for the value. The lights and sounds are simplistic but good enough for the overall looks of the product.I have to image the hardcore Trekkie originals are already aware of this version of the Enterprise. However, if anyone has a remote connection to the original 60s series and wants a bold display of the Enterprise that is well crafted and not very expensive then this is your kit.

Trekkie fun
I admit it. I am a Trekkie. And a Trekker. Watching the original series on TV as a child made me a lifelong fan of not only Star Trek but everything sci-fi. I also admit to having possessed collectibles over the years, although multiple moves and downsizing has reduced my collection to only a couple of toys. I was reading about this person in Tacoma WA who left a large collection in his estate, and that got me thinking. Why have I never had a model of the original starship Enterprise NCC-1701? So, I started looking.I thought there might be a number of examples of this iconic ship, but found only a couple of NCC-1701. None of which matched the large size of this plastic model. The details are very good. The stand is OK, requiring some care in putting the pieces together and placement, but workable. The colored lights and recorded sounds are fun and engaging. And, again… the size! This thing is really 21”! The price point is perfect for a model of this size, even at full retail. As some other reviewers have indicated: “What are you waiting for? If you are a Star Trek fan… buy this model today!” You will not be unhappy.

Where Everyone Has Gone Before
When I was twelve years old I bought and built the AMT model kit of "Star Trek"'s U.S.S. Enterprise. Given that the model was released around 1967 and it was 1972, it was a pure stroke of luck that I found the first generation kit with battery-operated lighting. I had the built up kit well into my twenties. I don't remember what happened to it. I've always promised myself that I would replace the old kit, but the AMT kit with the light set is rarer than hen's teeth and far more expensive. This prebuilt NCC-1701 comes with a lot of good detail, including the expected TOS hull markings and properly colored running lights. It even features the legs of the saucer (never used on the show, they were just dark triangles on the bottom of the saucer as they are here). The clamshell doors of the hangar deck don't open and there's no little shuttlecraft included. It was by sheer chance that I found this NCC-1701 on Amazon. Although it has some features that put it squarely in the "toy" category (such as a library of ship sounds from "Star Trek: The Original Series") other features point this Enterprise right at the "display model" category. One is size; the ship with the engine nacelles in place stretches over 21 inches, and standing on its base it's nearly that high. Another is weight; it's noticeably heavier than a toy should be. A third is fragility; it doesn't seem like it would handle rough play and dropping well at all, and parts like the sensor array and the light domes seem easily breakable. It was a little difficult to get the Enterprise out of its form-molded protective plastic packaging, and it took a little effort to attach the engine nacelles. Be careful. Don't force them. Held at the right angle they join the hull with a satisfying snap. The same goes with the clear plastic base and its bizarrely goosenecked strut. Why the strut has two movable joints I couldn't tell you. I guess the makers thought you might want to display the Enterprise at various angles, although mostly you just want it to balance without falling over. The strut fits neatly into a purpose-drilled hole at the bottom of the secondary hull. Again, don't force it. It seems a bit fragile, so work it into the opening gently. The battery compartment is at the bottom of the secondary hull under the hangar deck. The ship takes 3 AAA batteries (included).By far the best part is the lighting package. The ship lights up just like the original AMT kit. The front domes of the engine nacelles are a bright yellow, while the rear domes are white. The phaser dome under the saucer glows white, as do the individual windows on the bridge. The on/off switch has three settings for Sounds, Lights, and Off. You can choose which sounds you want by pressing one of three small buttons atop the bridge. Your choices are the Red Alert Alarm, the photon torpedo sound, the phaser sound, and a few bridge orders from Captain Kirk. The only drawback to this Enterprise as a display model is that the lights turn off within a few seconds of being activated. If there's a way to set them to stay on longer I haven't found it and it's not in the instructions. It also has no USB connection. It's too bad because this would make a great night light.

It’s sturdy and realistic
My son is a bit of a Trekkie, and I got this for him for his 24th birthday. He LOVED it! He shows it off regularly when friends visit him, and loves having it on his dresser where he can see it anytime. I bought it thinking it was a model that required assembly, because he loves to do them, but he was still quite happy with this preassembled model. It’s plastic, very sturdy, and very detailed. A fun toy for any age.
