Spectacular grill that can go over 750 degrees
So great I'm glad my existing pellet grill broke. The unit is easy to assemble and took about 20 minutes. My first cook a reverse sear ribeye 225 until internal 128 degrees removed and put in RIOT mode and the grill quickly heated to 750 degrees and then seared both sides for a great crust ,,,,,, PERFECT medium rare. RIOT mode is the game changer as my prior pellet grill could barely get 450 degrees, and this baby easily went to 750 degrees perfect for searing and PIZZA on my steel and its better than a pizza oven. You won't be disappointed it's a great grill and the price was right at 429 and Amazon gave me a 175-dollar gift card to get the prime credit card bringing it down to 254 and you can't beat that as I would have paid double

Very accurate temp control
Update, 1 yr later:Absolutely 5 stars. This grill has done what my previous pellet grills could not do, and did it for $400 less than those top brands cost.I have owned 2 Pit Boss, 1 Oklahoma Joe.1st Pit boss electronics failed in 13 months of use. Warranty replaced it.2nd Pit Boss failed in 8 months, surprise leak in cover. Electronic components stopped working.Okie Joe electronics failed and could not determine which parts were bad.In all 3 of these, water and moisture were primary cause of failure. I have no way to store it except on an open deck and heavy grill cover. Two of the failures root cause is from the grill cover failing and allowing grill to get wet.The Recteq has worked flawlessly the entire time. I keep continuous check on grill cover to spot any leak. The recent tropical storm Ophelia that came thru blew my cover off during the storm, soaking the outside of the grill.I allowed it to dry for 2 weeks, cleaned up ash pot and surrounding area of ash and stuck debris. This grill is designed so well the pellets left in the auger tube did not get wet and turn into a solidified mass preventing the auger from turning.I fired up the grill. It took a while for the igniter to get hot enough to start the pellets burning, but it did.I am so impressed with this grill and how it was battered by hurricane force winds and rain, but once it was dried out it works just as good as the first time I used it. All those big name EXPENSIVE grills I wasted my money on couldn't claim this kind of reliability.I am a mechanical design engineer with 5 patents. I have an elevated appreciation for exceptional quality of design. The engineering team at Recteq have my absolute admiration and loyalty. This story says it all.If you can keep yours in a building protected from the weather, it will probably last you many years.Pros:- Once it is preheated, it maintains the temp you set it to very well.- The lid opens fully so you have 100% top down access to your food being cooked.- Perfect size for 2 to 4 people, yet enough space to smoke two or three pork shoulders at once.- Metal parts are made of stainless steel. This adds much more longevity overall.- Design functionality leaves very little ash behind when done cooking.Cons:- No pellet reservoir dump feature. You have to scoop out unused pellets for long term storage. This isn't a game breaker but is a feature I highly value.- No access to the auger chute to unjam degraded pellets (that stayed in chute too long, swelled and clogged the chute).- No function to drain off excess grease and oil drippings. That falls onto heat shield and ignites if excessive.- Ventilation ports are too large. They need to be smaller or not as many. Generated smoke leaves the grilling chamber too fast. ( I will cover some of them or make the added cover adjustable so I can regulate how well the chamber holds smoke.)Overall, its a great low volume pellet grill perfect for a family of 4. And for couples and single users. The freedom of air flow of the grill chamber needs work if I could make design recommendations to the manufacturer. The chamber has too much oxygen coming in, causing grease fire flare up.If you are a good handyman\woman, get some sheet metal and cover some of the vents in the cover. Then it will keep enough smoke inside to prevent the grease flare ups from burning out of control and burning your food.

Unit steadily loses temperature in "riot" mode and support team is condescending
The media could not be loaded. The new unit doesn’t work in “riot” mode, support is poor/disjointed, and the support supervisor is condescending. I purchased a new unit and after one use I tried the unit in “riot”. The unit reaches some peak temperature (once 750 degrees, another time 642 degrees, and another time 450 degrees) in “riot” mode. The unit held the temperature for 2 minutes and then the temperature steadily fell (i.e. from 750 degrees to 152 degrees and continuing to fall). I reported the issue and spent full working day with 4 different support agents. At the beginning of each of the four calls I had to re-explain the issue and tell them what the last technician tried and explain the results from each attempt. The support agents had me run diagnostics and make other adjustments and retry the unit (after speaking to each agent). The unit continued to fail after each attempt. After a full day with the various support agents not resolving the issue, I asked that they provide me a means to return the unit for another working unit since after all this was a new unit not working. I felt that after spending a full day of my time with their support getting nowhere that it was time for them to take the unit back and give me a working unit. At this point the support supervisor told me to clean the unit, indicating that the unit didn’t work due to my incompetence, and that the unit worked. He was going to send me a bag of pellets for my time. So, I am stuck with a defective unit! Stay away from this company because if you get a defective unit, you are likely to be stuck with it!!

Recteq is the best!
Great Smoker. By far the best smoker I have ever owned. The most accurate temperature keeping smoker even at the highest temps. This gives one the ability to cook/bake/sear just about anything. Over all very pleased with, Recteq by far exceeds the quality of Treager, Pit Boss, Gorilla grills and all the rest.

Arrived ahead of schedule!
I've only had this smoker for a week and have used it once. I do have some experience with smokers so will make a couple of comments. The assembly was fairly easy and instructions were easy to follow. At one point about halfway into assembly it appeared that a part was missing. after i completed assembly without the missing part i discovered that the box had a false bottom which contained the missing part. I nearly threw it out with the cardboard box. On the break in run I let it run for several minutes and it did not ignite. After further reading of the manual I learned that you may need to put some pellets in the burn pot. After doing that it fired up and worked as expected. I feel like it used more pellets than expected but I guess time will tell on that. I'm giving it four stars only because I haven't used it enough yet to be a fair judge. Maybe I'll come back later and change that.

Excellent
Absolutely love this pellet smoker! Ditched my brand new treager for this. For the price it is very high quality steel, also easy to build out of the box. It has a lot more easy access grill space as well. Most pellet stove you have a hard time flipping meat in the back of the hot box, you can access the entire grill with the way this grill opens.
