Have a Question? See What Others Asked

I don't see any ports labeled uplink for connection to my other switch does this mean it no capable of being connected as an expansion switch.
Does this switch support link aggregation ? Looking to hook up a decent Synology NAS which has two Ethernet ports to utilize the higher throughput.
I have a modem router combo and am out of ports, can I use the switch on this type of box? And if so, how do I hook it up?
Does the TL-SG108 mount on a wall?

Reliable, Stable, and Feature-Rich Networking Gear

Before switching to the TP-Link ER605 V2, I was restarting my cable company’s modem/router combo once or twice a week due to constant dropouts and poor Wi-Fi performance. Since installing the ER605 and putting the modem in bridge mode, it has been running flawlessly for over 3 years—the only reboot I’ve done was after making configuration changes myself. At home, I use the ER605 with a TP-Link EAP610 for Wi-Fi, managed via the OC200 controller. At another property I manage, it’s paired with a TP-Link EAP225, controlled through the Omada software running on Proxmox. The entire Omada ecosystem—covering load balancing, firewall, VPN, and network management—is stable, intuitive, and enterprise-grade yet budget-friendly.If you need more ports with VLAN control and Omada integration, the TP-Link TL-SG2008 is an excellent choice. This smart managed PoE-in switch supports VLANs, L2/L3/L4 QoS, static routing, IGMP snooping, and link aggregation. It integrates seamlessly with the ER605 and is perfect for home labs or small business networks requiring flexibility and control. If you don’t need advanced management features, the TP-Link TL-SG108 is a simple, plug-and-play option. It’s unmanaged, fanless, built tough, and just works right out of the box—ideal for quickly expanding your wired network without fuss.

Excellent and very affordable upgrade from my old TPLink 100Mbs switch.

The TP-Link TL-SG108 unmanaged switch/hub (meaning no web or software access to configure) provides good, solid, "predictable" 1Gbs network speed on my home network. I'm paying IQFiber for 1Gbs service, but just noticed after being with them, trouble free for 2 years (or more?) that I was still using my old TPLink TL-SF1008 100Mbs splitter hub and wasting quite a bit of network speed on some of my devices....so was about to order the Netgear 1Gbs equivalent to the 108 until I read some reviews...so went for this TPLink 1Gbs unit, the TL-SG108. (Which actually looks IDENTICLE to the Netgear...so they're now probably made in the same Chinese factory !🤣)Regardless, I switched my cables over to the 108, even able to use the old TPLink power supply that came with my old 1008 100 Mbs unit (exactly the same voltage and current capacity), and tested throughput....I've posted a "Speedtest" photo of the old 100Mbs hub performance, and then the Speedtest results of the new 1Gbs unit, testing on the same Lenovo laptop running Win11....results are just as it's supposed to perform...10x the speed for under $20 !❤️🙂 ...runs totally cool to the touch too. One thing I noticed though....first time I ran Speedtest with the new 108 hub I got the same mid 90's speed...so I disconnected all other ethernet devices and unplugged the hub, plugged it back in, then plugged one ethernet cable at a time, starting with the test laptop, back in to the 1Gbs 108 hub, running Speedtest from the same laptop each time, to see if one of the devices or cables was slowing the whole network back down to "lowest common denominator," 100Mbs, but once everything was plugged back in, I got the consistent 900's on the test laptop every time. 🤔🥳

Plug and play. Quick setup from start to finish.

Got this 8 port giga switch, to replace my old 10/100 switch which was a 5 port switch.Installation is easy since i just needed to swap the old one to the giga switch. It does not matter which port you put the laptops/printers/Internet cables in, it auto detects the internet cable. The case is metal therefore sturdy- but keep it away from power cables, so that there is no interference with the signal. It also has a loop prevention toggle switch, in case you connect to multiple switches and in error you connect two Lan cables from one switch to the other switch, it will still work(not seen a physical loop switch on others).

A Reliable and Affordable Solution for Expanding Your Network

I recently purchased the TP-Link TL-SG108 8-Port Gigabit Unmanaged Ethernet Network Switch to upgrade my home network setup, and I couldn't be happier with the results. Here's my personal experience with this device:Why I Bought ItMy router only has a few Ethernet ports, and with multiple devices needing a wired connection (PC, smart TV, gaming console, and cameras), I needed a reliable solution to expand my network. After some research, the TL-SG108 stood out for its affordability and positive reviews.Setup ExperienceSetting up this switch was incredibly simple—true plug-and-play. I connected my router to one of the ports and plugged in my devices to the others. Within minutes, everything was up and running without requiring any configuration. The instructions were straightforward, though I did have to double-check online to confirm which port serves as the input from the router (any port works).PerformanceThe performance has been excellent so far. My devices now have stable gigabit speeds, which has made streaming, gaming, and file transfers noticeably faster and smoother. Even when multiple devices are active simultaneously, there’s no lag or slowdown.Build QualityI appreciate the sturdy metal casing—it feels durable and premium compared to plastic alternatives. The fanless design is a bonus because it operates silently, making it perfect for my quiet home office setup. The compact size also makes it easy to place on my desk or mount on a wall.Pros:Ease of Use: Plug-and-play setup was effortless.Reliable Speeds: All connected devices enjoy fast and stable gigabit connections.Durable Design: The metal casing ensures longevity and heat dissipation.Silent Operation: No fan noise at all!Affordable Price: At $19.99, it’s a great value for expanding your network.Cons:Basic Features: As an unmanaged switch, it lacks advanced configuration options (e.g., VLAN tagging or port monitoring).Overall ThoughtsThe TP-Link TL-SG108 is perfect for anyone looking to expand their home or small office network without breaking the bank or dealing with complex setups. It’s reliable, fast, and well-built—ideal for users like me who need simplicity but still want high performance.I highly recommend this switch if you’re looking for an easy way to connect multiple devices while maintaining gigabit speeds!
