I'm not a heavy printer user - printing only about 50 pages a week on a busy week - but even with multiple years between toner cartridge replacements... the actual manufacturer cartridges have always seemed like way too much money for what you get. So I looked for a more economical replacement here on Amazon.And although I can't speak to the lifespan of this compatible cartridge since I'm only about a month into using it... I can speak to its functionality. The first 5 pages had some streaks on them as if there was something inside the cartridge that had to be cleaned out by the paper running through it... but after that this cartridge has performed just as well as the manufacturer-recommended cartridge.Since this compatible cartridge works as well as the manufacturer one that costs four to eight times as much... I will be buying these from now on since there is no reason to pay so much more for the same functionality.

Print quality seems reasonable for the age of the machine. I’ve had this machine since 2004 and still flawless. The cartridge installed easily and preforms perfectly.

Worked for our old Brother HL-1470N. We purchased some other ones (not Amazon) and they would not work with the printer (got an alarm-no toner). These did.

This goes into a printer that gets a lot less use and many years of service between servicing - twenty years on the original drum. Directions with cartridge would help.

I'm a college professor with three kids. This lasted for four years in my Brother HL-1440. I just ordered another one because mine is starting to go. I expect this one will outlive the printer, but we'll see.

Brought this instead of spending the $60 from Office Depot and so far I printed my wife and I passport renewal forms. No issues with printing quality.

I'm a teacher and wanted to replace the toner in the little printer I have in my room. I only print a few sheets at a time and then turn those in to be copied, I never print a class set. I have to shake the cartridge after every 5-8 pages. It's printed around 60-70 sheets so far over the 3 weeks I've had it. I understand that it's a cartridge that has been used before and the toner was just replaced but I expected it to be better than this. Guess I need to stop being cheap and just buy the Brother manufactured one.

I needed a new ink cartridge for my Brother printer. The name brand cartridge was so expensive! I saw this one and thought it'd be worth a try, for such a low price. I'm so happy I took the risk, because this cartridge works great. I can't discern any differences between this cartridge and my previous name-brand one. I was hesitant at first because of the bad reviews, but I'm so glad I took the chance and saved the money!
