From chapter one, entitled “Why Analytics Will Be the Next Competitive Edge,” to the “principles” and best “practices;” to the many clear, concise real life examples of case studies revealed; to a discussion about ”trends and challenges;” to the value gained from understanding the “Driver-Based Budget and Rolling Forecasts” - this is a must read book for all, including what are described as the “skeptics” and well as the ”enthusiasts” of analytics.I could not put it down and I am sure it will be a referenceable guide of mine for some time to come.To demystify the topic of predictive analytics is not an easy task but the authors Maisel and Cokins, display a unique blend of acumen, practical know-how and well defined stories that make this an easy to read, digest and use the material.It simply doesn’t disappoint but more importantly, it quenches one's thirst for the practical. Not to mention you will want to remember all of the quotes you will find that kick off each chapter and subject. Don't hesitate!

Chapters on Developing a Predicitve Business Analytics Function, Predictive Accounting & marginal Expense analytics and particularly the one on (how to use PBA in) Driver Based Budgeting & rolling Forecasts - are brilliant. Loved the Metlife Case Study.Subba

The book can be used as a textbook in a MBA course. However, I missed a more detailed presentation of formal models that were used in the examples.
