works great with Garmin mounts
This product works great with my old Garmin Portable Friction Mount. It twists on to the mount and holds your smartphone securely. I use it with an iPhone 6 with a case, but it would work with other smartphones as well. The bracket holds your phone securely and you can rotate your phone in any direction once it's in the bracket. It's a great way to turn you smartphone into a navigation device. The phone is held firmly in place but it's also easy to release with the clamp on the back. A great product at a very reasonable price.

Great design, rotational ball connector enables both horizontal and vertical positioning
It works perfectly with the friction-based car mounts (beanbag type), which is, in my opinion the most reliable car mount.Compatible with Garmin 17mm ball. Completely rotational in the roll axis (allow me to use the traditional three-dimensional rotation model) to enable horizontal and vertical positioning. Has about 90° of rotational freedom around the pitch axis, not completely free, but quite sufficient.I saw some users thought that it can only do horizontal. I think these users tried to place the device into the bracket to be vertically held by the openings (two jaws). Of course the bracket opening is not wide enough to hold a cell phone vertically. It is not how it is designed. Instead, always put the cell phone horizontally into the opening, and adjust the position using the rotational freedom of the Garmin ball.Functionally fine. But I am not impressed by the quality. Have not run into problems yet because I have had it for less than a day, but the whole thing is rather flimsy, quite cheaply made using low-quality plastic. This would cost less than $.50 to mass-produce in China (I'm not kidding, I know what I'm talking about).

Broke after a few months
Worked ok while it lasted. The clip broke in two after a few months of light use. The other issue was that the pin that kept both sides of the clip together kept sliding out of it's hole. I had to keep pushing it back into place.

Good product, short life
Worked well with my iphone: easy to open, very good grip. But the hinge broke after three and half months and the bracket is now unusable.

Fits my Garmin ball and iPhone perfectly.
This clamp is exactly what I needed to hold my iPhone on my car dash using a Garmin beanbag mount. It is well made and installs very easily. Just remove the holding nut and slip it on the ball mount, be sure you note that you will be tightening the nut on the clamp. Then push the clamp mounting onto the ball. Then screw on the tightening nut, but not too tight yet, because you will want to adjust the clamp to the position you want, now tighten the nut. This baby is now ready to rock and roll. Enjoy the freedom.

It worked great but it isn't heavy duty
It worked great but it isn't heavy duty. I broke mine in less than a year, maybe my fault, maybe not but it sure isn't rugged. It fit my Ipone 5 perfect before i put a case on it, after that is when i busted it trying to get it to hold my phone with a case.

Fantastic Solution for Wallet-type Cell Phone Cases
We love this. We have now purchased 5 (some as gifts). We use wallet-type cell phone cases, and you do not have to remove the case to use this clip. Place this on the Garmin Sandbag Mount and purchase a four foot USB cord & a 2 Amp lighter charger and you are ready to go. We use this with Google drive on Android. It sits very securely on all types of dashboards and it is sooo nice to be able to bring your GPS device with you on trips to use in rental cars. We place it on the left-side of the steering well in our Mini Cooper.

Useful little bracket
Summary: smart design, versatile, functional, does what it's supposed toThis is a clever little design. Credit to the person that came up with it. I used this to hold my IPhone 4 on my old sandbag-style GPS holder when driving. Now I use it to hold my IPhone 6. Because of the "clamp" design, it is able to hold either. Great! My only issue, and the reason for 4 stars vs. 5, is that the clamp can start to lean forward under the weight of the phone. This is no big deal, as it comes to rest on my dashboard, but it can be a bit annoying when it starts leaning while I drive.
