Quality
Works great, charges my phone, lasts all night - perfect for a disaster preparedness kit and power outages. I have now bought four.

Good product, dreadful delivery service
The product seems fine, it is what I ordered. I have a huge problem with the delivery service of UPS. Over four days waiting, each day they said lies about my delivery. I am inclined not to use Amazon again if UPS are the carriers. The overall delivery experience was absolutely dreadful!

USB charge port
I tested it immediately which I suggest due to other reviews I’ve read. First thing was the USB port. Hooked up my hearing aid charger and it worked fine. The lantern doesn’t need to be lit to use the charger. The bright setting is blinding so if I use it I’ll need a screen of some kind. Maybe put it behind a flower pot? The two lower settings are much easier to work with. Takes 6 D batteries. Install the batteries with the negative end on the little springy part. The battery cover has a little guide slot that will only let it go on one way so makes it easy. Light weight is a plus. Says 200 hours of battery life. We’ll see how it does when I have to use the light and the charger. Over all, recommended.

So far so good.
I used AA to D cell adapters, so I could use my collection of rechargeable AAs, even with 12 or 18 AAs this runs for an entire weekend campout or two. Not the Brightest light I have, but a good substitute for the old Coleman lanterns we used to use. With rechargeable batteries I feel fine leaving this on all night as an area light.

Very Good Home Emergency Lantern
The first thing you notice when you unpack this lantern is that it is quite light for a full size lantern. It is made almost entirely from plastic. Even after adding six "D" cell batteries to it the weight of it should not be a problem for most people. However, because the product contains so much plastic I would not want to test its durability by dropping it more then a couple of feet. Putting batteries in it or changing them out can be somewhat a tedious exercise until you figure out how to align the bottom of the battery compartment to screw it in to the rest of the lantern. Once you have the batteries in it, this thing can really light up a room. I haven't measured it to see if it really puts out 800 lumens of light on its "high" setting, but it must at least be close to that. The three light settings give you a fairly wide range of light output to choose from but I would still prefer a product that has a switch that give you "dimming" capability for camping use. The USB port to recharge a phone or other devices is a nice feature but it does drain this product's batteries fairly quickly. All in all this is a very nice emergency lantern for around the home but may not be the best choice for camping because of its size, lack of a dimmer switch and somewhat questionable durability.

Big and bright
This is big and bulky and I can get sufficient light from a lantern that's a fraction of this size so I was going to return it. But I took it camping with me just for the heck of it and it saved my butt. We returned from the beach after dark and we could hardly see a thing and yet there was much to do. This lantern was brighter than a propane lantern and unlike a propane lantern, all I had to do was press a button. I own six propane lanterns and they have great nostalgic value, but for light when you need it, nothing beats a battery lantern. And this one is super bright. Too bad it's so big and bulky, but that's something I can live with. I love my propane lanterns, but it's a stupid love. Battery lanterns are the only way to go.
