Pretty disappointed in these compared to the same brand from 2012
I generally like Pearl Izumi for their biking gear. I have two sets of their gloves and several pairs of very similar shorts as these from 2012 that I was very happy with. A couple of them are wearing out so I bought again. This is basically just a single oversized cheap pad shoved into bike shorts. The older models were much more contoured, and fit MUCH more comfortably. This is roughly equivalent to putting on boxer-brief underwear and shoving a maxi-pad underneath.Given that this costs nearly 3 times the no-name brands, and has basically the same quality now, I'd strongly recommend looking somewhere else.

Very Nice
Recently I have been trying different liners for mountain biking. I used to use bib shorts, but they are a bit warm in the Arizona summers. Finally found ones that work well and don't feel like they are there. I'm 6' and 186lbs. 36" waist. The waist band sits above my hip bones and keeps the shorts snugly in place. 2-3 hour desert mountain bike rides with zero discomfort of any kind. Wearing these under Troy Lee and FOX shorts. I like them marginally better than the liners that came with the FOX shorts. I have found that the PI brand works extremely well for my road bike kits as well.

No longer the standard
Not the Pearl Izumi that I was accustomed to. The new pad configuration wears like a big stiff diaper. Do not recommend. I won’t buy again.

Pearl Izumi but Made in China
Pearl Izumi is know for quality and I expect that these liners will last. They are comfortable and provide good cushion, but being made in China makes me wonder how long they will last. Buyer beware, so don't pay full price for these.

The best I have worn to date
These are great. I wear these underneath my Pearl Canyon shorts as they are leaps and bounds a head of the default liner. Instead of rubbers band wrapped in material to keep the short legs in place, these employ a large surface area of comfortable material. The waste band is well though through and is very comfortable. The material where the sit bones make contact to the seat is also not mesh so it decreases the amount of grinding the seat does to your butt on a bumpy road. I have multiple liners, but if these don't get washed in between rides... I dig them out of the laundry basket and wear them again. Don't judge, they really are that much better.

GREAT liner shorts for mountain biking
These liners were reviewed and recommended as the best by a group of mountain bike experts, so I bought them for our 13 yo son. He's in between a youth and adult size, and I was worried they'd be too big. He has a 28" waist, but very thin legs. The small fits him great and he said they were better than his racing bibs in terms of comfort. Now we bought some for dad because he was jealous!

True to size, awesome material
Compression is firm, cushioning is comfortable. Well made. Great riding shorts, value for money.
