This unit replaces a ZAGG Slim Book case which broke at the hinge after less than 3 months; AND a ZAGG Folio which obstructs the part of the iPad screen closest to the hinge. Oh yeah, it also replaces the Logitech keyboard folio, which had key caps break off. Yes I’ve spent some dollars on keyboard cases, and no I do NOT abuse them.So far I’m impressed. Construction is excellent. The base is 2 pieces of aluminum, screwed together. The top is also aluminum, lined with ABS plastic. The hinge feels solid and smooth. MUCH more substantial than both my ZAGG units. It’s heavier, but it’s just MUCH better made.A row of (4) green LEDs blinks as it charges, showing progress in 25% increments — very useful. The rightmost LED shows blue to indicate Bluetooth discovery mode. The left side has the micro-USB charging port and power on/off switch; the right side has a USB port which can be used to charge your phone from the keyboard battery. Not sure I’ll ever use it for charging, but it’s there nonetheless.After charging, it paired with my iPad painlessly. I’m using it to type this review. The keys feel similar to my MacBook Pro, and are backlit. Haven’t played with colors or brightness yet. I touch-type, and right now having no trouble with the layout or key cap size.Based on my experience with ZAGG and Logitech, if this case fails after 6 months I won’t hesitate t buy another... but the warrantee may be longer than that, I may not have to pay for the replacement (unlike ZAGG and Logitech).

Too heavy to travel with

Very functional, well designed, with a good fit. Like the fact that it is constructed of aluminum. Adds somewhat to the weight of my iPad, but this is minor inconvenience.

I really like this case but it constantly puts pressure on the volume down button. I have tried removing an re-inserting several times with no change to this. I am sad that I will have to return it.

My mini-ipad fit in the cover OK, but it took some maneuvering to get it fit. The trouble was getting it out again. Very difficult. Also the instructions were in teeny, tiny print and not very useful. Some critical information was missing. Great idea! Really wanted it to work. Maybe their next iteration will be better.

It looks great, It works great! sturdy made! I would give it 6 stars if : It could be lighter, but it is an iPad that you will not carry it in a pocket, so who cares about weight have the option to get connected to the pad the hard way (not bluetooth, cause pad's battery to run low faster), and the two halfs were perfectly aligned, detail that does not bother me at all.And it came with a couple of gifts!!! i could not ask for more.If you have the money...buy it!

Essentially converts the iPad Mini 4 to a small Macbook Pro laptop. The build is high quality, sturdy, metal (aluminum...not plastic). Backlit keys, no bluetooth lag. iPad Mini 4 shuts off when closed. Can charge your cellphone. Long battery life. Battery can also be removed, replaced. The best keyboard accessory I've ever seen for an iPad.

Offers solid protection and a really good, easily synched keyboard. My iPad mini fits perfectly. The only issues I have are the weight (it's a tad heavy, but still doable) and that the angles are limited.I would recommend it.
