I bought the entire Mick Herron Slough House series because there is too much time between seasons for what has become my favorite TV show - and because from past experience, books contain more detailed information than shows.Reading these books was a true pleasure! Normally, I'll read a book and if a movie is produced from it, I'm often disappointed by the film. In this case, viewing the TV show only enhanced the reading because I could "see" the characters in my mind's eye and "hear" the actors' voices in my head while reading. My husband often caught me smiling while reading, and the occasional outburst of laughter resulted in me reading several excerpts or full chapters aloud for his enjoyment.From Mick Herron's imagination, we have the pleasure of meeting fully developed, very interesting, and vulnerable characters - from devious divas and incompetent politically-motivated bureaucrats at MI5, to weathered and weary old spies, and young energetic and passionate newbies, this series offers a rich cast for readers to relate to. I love the character of Jackson Lamb and feel that I've met him at various times in my life. I cannot imagine any actor other than Gary Oldman playing his role. His sarcastic, humorous and occasionally compassionate interaction with the other characters is most enjoyable and has enhanced my reading of this book!I highly recommend this book series to anyone who enjoys a good spy novel coupled with humor.

Im not a spy novel guy at all but the writing is so good -- and funny -- that I cant put it down.

Love the books! If you've seen the Apple+ series, it is faithful to the books.

Mick Herron is the best. His spooks have a real feel to them, and the dialog is ezxcellent. Not quite Elmore Leonard, but very good.

This seems to be a hard-to-find book series. It took forever before the item was shipped, and I had to follow-up with Amazon about its status as Christmas approached. It finally arrived just in time to give the collection as a gift. I’m glad I found it, but the shipping/receiving process took longer than I expected.

A gifted and original writer introduces a fascinating group of misfits and makes their mistakes and their adaptation (or refusal to adapt) to those mistakes addictive reading. These characters are unforgettable and the plots unfold in a twisty, scarily plausible way.

Good set for a good price. I appreciate the opportunity to purchase as a collection.
