It does light easily with a ferro rod.
I wanted a tinder that is easily lighted with a ferro rod. And this works well. You have to really fluff up the fibers though. If you just have fluff it burns really fast. I found it works well to fluff one end and leave the other end tight and it lights quickly but then burns for a while. Seems pretty wind resistant as well. It was hard to blow out once it was going.

Meh!
So I've been testing a lot of fire starters the last few weeks in snowy windy environment. These were the loser by a good margin. (But will still start a fire!) Read directions.... Ok take out a strand and peel it all apart in to smaller strands takes about 5 minutes. Make a good fluff pile and light. Good luck with the little strands not blowing away in the wind! It does light easily with a Ferro rod (assuming they haven't flown away) but has a short 2 minute burn time. I like the fire plugs better (I tried the BlackBeard & Bigfoot Bushcraft) the plugs burn longer also (about 5 minutes) and are just as easy to light in my testing. I think there are better products out there. Fyi my winner was the Wet Fire tabs. Expensive but burn for about 10 minutes. The plugs are second (and you get way more than the WetFire) and the FireFlame pouches are 3rd. The FireFlame would be good for a bbq though as they burn a little longer than the plugs. Im not a survivalist so do your own testing! YMMV

Jury still out
I got some of this Goldace fire starter rope for a class I was giving to Cub Scouts on fire starting using ferro rods. The product comes well packaged and was easy to cut off a piece. It takes a little time to tear it up and get it down to fuzzy fiber. iI's a little sticky from the wax or whatever it's coated in.I was liking everything up till the point they were trying to get their birdnests to light. Several of the boys had issues and even though they had hot glowing charcloth the fiber just didn't want to go. I tried myself and it took a while to get it. I've lit hundreds, if not thousands of fires so it wasn't my first time. One of the other leaders had better luck and got his to go pretty quickly. We both said we weren't sure what the deal was.So I'm not sure, I'm not gonna blame the product yet, I'm going to try it again at our next camp out next month after the holidays and see if I have better luck.So I won't say it was this product as it looks well made but for whatever reason it just didn't seem to want to flare up like I'd expect something 'survival' related. I've built thousands of fires over the years so someone that's

Perfection
Starts fires quickly and was easy to pack away on camping trips. I’ll be taking these from now on, stay away from those in the store that are blocks and say they work well. These are the only ones I’ll use anymore.

It works!
Works well! Like that it’s easy to use and effective.Don’t like that the packaging isn’t easy to re-close and that I need to have an additional container for storage of what’s not in my pack.
