Scanner Bin Pro - Phone Scanner Stand for Photo and Document scanning (Also Used as a Document Camera, Invented & Produced in The USA)

I had the idea to make a cardboard light box, for photographing documents with my phone. But for the price of the two LED strips, these guys include the box. For its simplicity, price, and effectiveness, I highly recommend it. Here's some details. It's easy to put together, the pieces pop out from a few cardboard sheets. The lights are bright and adjustable, as pictured. Lighting from the side avoids glare from a glossy surfaces, awesome. The height of the top piece is also adjustable. At the upper limit, my modest android phone captured more than a full 8.5x11 document at 200dpi, lowering the top gets the phone closer, so I can do photos at 300dpi. The limitation is that it is not a full box, it's three sided (as pictured). This allows easy access to the interior, to get docs/photos in and out quickly, and to arrange the lights. But it is not strong, it'll hold up your tablet just fine, but not your cat. I'm glad I got it, saved me the effort of chopping my own box and rigging lights.

I wanted something to scan all my family photos using a photo scanner app on my phone, and this thing is absolutely perfect! Huge credit to the awesome design! However... It's odd that the color of this is white, while it looks good fully set up, the problem is that the white cardboard just reflects all over photographs that I'm trying to scan, especially if the photo was taken at night or in low light, all you see is the reflection of the white cardboard in the photo scan. I had to get a permanent marker and color the parts of the box that faced the picture black which solved the issue. I imagine the white color isn't an issue for scanning documents, but definitely a problem for certain photos. Maybe making the bottom parts of the cardboard which face the scanned item black instead of white could be a modification to consider for future Scanner Bins that are sold

I wanted to scan a lot of family pictures and this really helped. It was easy to use once it was assembled. The instructions were weird-having to read two pages and piece them together. Why not put it all on one page? I figured it out but it took a few. It would be helpful to provide a video link to demonstrate how to put it together and how it works. It feels very flimsy. I wish it were made if something more stable. The adjustment for height did not stay and required me to put binder clips on all four corners in order to get it to stay put each time I adjusted it. The set up is cumbersome due to the instability of the cardboard. It will work for my purposes, just not sure for how long. I used the Photomyne camera remote to keep it from moving as I hit the picture button. Maybe include one with the kit? I use the Photomyne app. Worked very well and made quick work of my task. Overall I would definitely recommend this. I would buy a stronger version with better adjustments in height if it were offered.

I recently got into genealogy after my dad’s death. Going through his things I’m finding a ton of things I want to put up on Ancestry. I’m able to photograph books, certificates and pictures and they turn out looking great. So far, no glare on any of the pictures. Lowering is a huge pain; the pins should be made of plastic, because after about 10 times of messing with them the cardboard is starting to fray.Update: I’m on my fourth hour of “scanning” and the pegs are starting to fail. I’m going to return it because I think it should last more than 4 hours of continued use, but if you’re only planning on using it sparingly then I think it’s a great thing.

I am all for supporting small business and this a good idea, but, regretfully, it is falsely advertises that you can take beautiful flat pictures of your 12" x 12" layouts. As you can see in the picture, the black cardstock is 12" x 12" but the sides do not appear in the picture. The white cardstock in the middle is 8.5" x 11" (US letter size) can barely make in the picture's width. The top panel it set up at the highest possible level. Based on my calculations, you can roughly get a width up to 9.25" visible in the pictures. Since I already glued the LED lights I cannot return it and this was a waste of money for me.I would gladly pay more money if they can make it wide and tall enough to take true pics of 12" x 12". For more stability and precision, they could use balsa wood for the main body instead of corrugated cardboard. Keep the corrugated cardboard only for the LED lights flaps. I find it very unstable and the smallest wrong move can change it's position or knock it over.

Need to scan something with passable accuracy using your cell phone? Wasted time and trouble trying to make your own cardboard box setup with little to minimal success? Unless you're a professional looking to invest in long-term tripods and lighting equipment, save yourself some money and hassle and get one of these simple kits. Easy to setup and dial in, and easier to store away in the closet when you're not using it. I own a scanner, but this kit now fills the gap when flatbed photo scanning won't cut it.Case in point:I was trying to scan a few items with metallic foil inlayed text and/or graphics. The best my photo scanner could replicate was black where it should look silver. This kit arrived two days later and within 15 minutes of opening the package I had a beautiful, flat, aligned 4K image with REAL metallic foil in the inlays, job done.
