Trugard Drain is specifically designed to allow simple and secure connections to Trugard Vapor-shield or other bonded waterproof membranes. Trugard Drain features a textured, wide funnel bonding flange to provide a watertight connection to the membrane and easily connects to standard drain outlets, for both new construction and renovations. Our redundancy engineering system requires a backup or "failsafe" installation method. Truseal/Evoseal Sealant is a necessary part of the installation for a long-term leak-proof connection. "Make it Leak-proof"... TRUGARD® **Installation with Pre-sloped floor tray** Because we at Trugard Systems do not currently supply a polystyrene Pre-sloped tray system, we recommend the mortar mud bed as the least expensive system. If someone does want to use a polystyrene pre-sloped tray system however, that is okay, as we have many tile contractors and do-it-yourselfers that have successfully installed the Trugard Drain with different brands of the styrofoam trays. **How to" Note: The Trugard Drain can be used with the Kerdi trays or others, but... there is some minor trimming of the styrofoam that has to be made. The Trugard flange has a greater slope than the Kerdi drain, so the styrofoam must be cut at an angle to allow the drain to fit down in completely. Also the Trugard Drain Flange is 10" in diameter and the Kerdi drain is 12" in diameter which leaves a small 1" by 1/8" dip around the perimeter of the flange which should be pre-filled with thin-set mortar or additional trimming should be made to ensure a positive slope to the drain prior to installation of the Vapor-shield membrane.
