Questionable source.
I purchased this controller supposedly brand new and in the box. The box had been sun bleached to a yellowish color and the whole controller was covered in a sticky residue. If I'd have to speculate, this thing had been sitting untouched in the sunlight in a hot warehouse for years...The controller worked alright after I cleaned it thoroughly however.

One Of The Best Pc Controllers
This controller works great-just plugged into my pc and it automatically installed the usb driver , very durable, fits very well in your hands, button configuration is so easy. Works real good with all of my emulators and pc games, I give it 5 stars for price, durability, and overall function.

Game pad turned into a sticky mess
I just pulled this off my shelf to play Wolfenstein The New Order on my PC (win 10). I don't play video games very often and when I grabbed it off the shelf it was super tacky and sticky. I saw another reviewer complain about this, but my controller's been been out of the sun on a shelf with 3 stick controllers. Those controllers aren't sticky like this. I tried some soap and water on the handles to see if it would clean up, but to no avail. I just sprinkled some powder on it to rid the tackiness just to try it with the game. It didn't work. The controller option is enabled, but I can't get it to work. Guess I'll be looking for another game pad, because I hate keyboard controlling! I like the recoil cable, however, which is pretty long.

A general review of Game Elements PC controllers
Never.. ever.. ever ever.. buy any PC controller made by this company.I have owned several of their "recoil" models.. and two of their wireless models.. and I'm about to tell you what the deal is.The recoil model:The cord that wraps into the unit is so flimsy that the very act of pulling the wire out and returning it to its coil is GUARANTEED to break it in no time at all. You may think I'm being melodramatic, but that is not the case. I've owned 3 of these, and none of them has lasted more than 3 months. This controller is a POS.The wireless model:This thing is more useless than teats on a boar. DELAY DELAY DELAY. If you are using this for PC gaming.. even NES emulation.. you will find yourself going back to your busted "recoil" model faster than you can say "ripoff". And that's pretty darn fast. Not convinced yet? Here's the worst part of all...All of their controllers with analog sticks end up getting stuck in one position. It's down. The left analog stick always gets stuck in the down position.Bottom line... this is cheap crap designed to be replaced. Unless you shop online, this is likely all you're going to find, though. Shop online. Find something.. anything but a controller made by this crap company. These are the worst, most unreliable controllers ever made.Trust me.

NOT FOR EMULATION GAMING
Primarily I was hoping to use this as a controller to play games on emulators (NES, SNES, N64) since using the keyboard can be a bit awkward (to say the least), especially when you're trying to map out more than 4 buttons conveniently.SETUP: The box says "Plug and Play on your PC". Yup, sure does! I just plugged it into my USB port, turned my computer on, ran my PJ64 emulator, mapped the controls, and TADA! I was able to play Mario64. Running the CD that comes with this controller is not mandatory (but certainly not discouraged).THE EMULATION TEST:NESTICLE (NES games): No matter what I tried, this controller simply isn't compatible with Nesticle. However, there are other NES emulators, but I hold Nesticle as being one of the better known ones (if not the best) so I think it's a safe bet that this controller won't work on any of them. It's not the controller's fault but it would have been nice if it had somehow been compatible.SNES9X (SNES games) and PJ64 (N64 games): This controller is compatible with both of these and button mapping is simple.THE GAME TEST:Mario 64 and Starfox 64 were a pleasure to play with this controller. The analog stick gives you excellent control of the situation. And the D-pad is useful for mapping those camera angle buttons. However, Super Mario World, Contra: Alien Wars, Desert Strike and F-Zero (all SNES games) did not fare as well, due to the terrible D-pad. The problem being that unless you press the arrow at the very outer rim of the circle your character on-screen sometimes will not respond to your button-presses. I constantly died in Mario and other games simply because I didn't press firmly enough or pressed too close to the center of the D-pad. Not very forgiving.Turbo was another disappointing feature. I experimented a bit and found that I could tap the button faster than the Turbo button would auto-fire. Sure, button-mashing gets tiresome real quick, but so does dying because you can't maintain a good firepower output in scrolling-shooter games.Setting Turbo was easy (just hold the button down and simultaneously press the button you want "turboed"), but at times it got confusing after a while, knowing if you were in Turbo or non-Turbo mode, and that's because both the Turbo and Clear lights stay on the whole time, even if you're not using Turbo at all.The recoiling cord locks into place once you set the desired length and won't recoil unless you press a special button (out of the way so you don't accidentally press it). However, depending on how your computer is set-up, where your USB ports are, the cord can get in the way. In my case, the cord rubs my right hand as it trails back snake-like to my rear-side USB port. Not a major complaint, but something to consider.OVERALL: At a price like this (and from a company I've never heard of before) what do you expect? I'll admit that it's satisfying if you're looking to play games that support an analog stick, but for old-school gaming, pass on this one.

Almost perfect for my use
I bought this at Wal*Mart and love it. I don't need the turbo function and I don't change the cord length for any reason. This would be perfect (for NFS games) but the vibration was set way to high out of the box, and the buttons feel cheaper then my old ProPad 6, but for $15+/- how can you go wrong. If it breaks in a year just get another one!The "problem" it has with changing the cord length during use is caused by the coil. (It causes the resistance and inductance to change). Thus causing the USB port to provide to little/to much power. This causes a fail safe on the USB port and shuts the port down, in order to save device attached. That's why you have to unplug/re-plug it in order for it to work. It happens with anything that has a coil, including coiled mice.So if your not looking for turbo, and don't plan on changing the cord length all the time then I highly recommend this controller!
