MIDIface 8x8 MIDI Interface

I never heard of this brand but these MIDI interfaces are a dying breed it seems but lot of ole skool musicians like us need em.Made in Germany…I’m counting on your workmanship…and TADA!!…you delivered!I needed this unit to take input from ANOTHER MIDI interface (yes it’s complicated.) here’s the flooryamaha Montage—>midisport USB connected to Win 7 PC—>3 MIDI OUT cables into 3 MIDI IN ports on the MIDITECH—>USB connected to MacBook Air running Ableton Live 12 Lite with VST synths.And guess what? When I hit a key on the montage, it goes through the entire chain and out through the studio monitors without any discernible latency. Just fantastic! The MIDITECH required no drivers. Just remember that you need to at least have MacOS Catalina or it won’t be recognized in the “MIDI STUDIO” app on the Mac. The seller needs to mention that. My MacBook Air is so old, it won’t go beyond Monterrey MacOS.The MIDITECH also looks really nice. Matte and Gloss finishes.Very happy with this nerve-racking decision to add one more interface to accomplish this feat. You may ask why didn’t I just upgrade Win7 to run the same VSTs that I’m running on the Mac? Because my Win 7 has old licensed software that won’t run on Windows 10 and the Windows versions of the VSTs I’m running on the Mac won’t run on Win7. Plus my Win7 is SO stable that I didn’t want to upset all my fine-tuning. So the 2 interfaces allow me to bridge the 2 computers together without any noticeable latency.I would love to have some rack ears to mount it into my studio rack. Seller please make the manufacturer make rack ears to fit onto this unit and I will be happy to pay $30 for them.

Easy to use with no timing issues or complaints so far. Each synth gets a dedicated MIDI port that I can individually select in my DAW. Love it!

Sometimes recording to cakewalk doesn't record. Lights on the interface flash but no recording takes place. Don't see any pattern on when or why this happens. Best description of this box is flakey.

The MIDI switcher hardware works fine, but getting the promised software bundle is made very difficult; in fact, I gave up trying.

Would give it 5 stars but I needed something more than what it does which is pass MIDI without necessarily being connected to a computer. This needs a computer. It's great if you are only using Ableton or Logic or some other software of that nature. To pass through MIDI to other ports Record needs to be enabled on a track in your software. If you need something that will pass MIDI to other ports then get the Mio xM or xL.

My MOTU midi timepiece av could no longer connect with my computer so I ordered the MIDIface... it has not dropped signal at over 20 feet of usb 2 cable.... I am happy with the purchase...
