Vintage Glass Oil Lamp (Large)

This is a beautiful oil lamp. The heavy cut glass base is so pretty. I bought colored oil to go in the base; it was a gift for someone who grew up with oil lamps and sorely missed them. The gift was much appreciated. The hurricane is very fragile (as they all are) but the company did a good job of packing it in bubble wrap. The size is perfect too; some are so small, but this is perfect for tabletop use.

This is the replacement for the first one I purchased and again the glass dome is broken. Looks like whoever is packaging these is tightening the base clamps TOO tight. That's what's breaking the glass! I had to stretch the four prongs out to get the rest of the broken glass out. I'm still keeping the bottom part and ordered a globe separate which is expensive but I like the lamp.

This lamp is just what I wanted. Looks great. I am very satisfied and will probably order another one. Thanks

This is a nice attractive lamp for the price but mine has minor glass flaws on both the chimney globe & the oil holder made during the manufacturing process. The shape of the oil holder is not uniform but doesn't affect it any. The chimney globe has a small bulge on the top where a glass string ended I assume. It is made of sturdy thick glass that is not as thin as some lamps can be. The wick holder works well & it comes with 2 wicks. The height is around 15 inches. If you don't mind some possible minor flaws - this lamp will do fine.

I have on hand when power goes out. Very pretty and functional

I bought this for use if the power goes out. It looks decent and could possibly be incorporated into your everyday decor. However it has a huge design flaw. The glass bottom that holds the kerosene is good construction and thick glass and the upper glass is thinner but perfect for its needs. The metal portion is where it falls apart. The glass has a simple screw top (like a jar of peanut butter. Then metal part is too big and will not properly secure. I might be able to use some heat/oil resistant tape to get a snug fit but basically out of the box I can’t combine them without risking the top falling off. Definitely can’t use it for logging purposes either

Beautiful plus useful

Would be perfect and worth the money but for one very important thing - the threaded cap tightens and slips loose. As it tightens and before it slips the liquid fuel WILL LEAK quickly if the reservoir is tilted. There is NO reason for this. This is unsafe.Addendum - This was a gift to someone who had an accident of sorts, the whole top fell off, it was embarrassing for me and dangerous as it was lit. The vendor has complaints about this issue and yet keeps selling the item. The vendor should feel uncomfortable with the liability issue and Amazon should be uncomfortable with a vendor who isn't uncomfortable. Aesthetically stunning and functionally defective. Just fix the item!!!
