This book is perfect for building that growth mindset in your kids
This book is perfect for building that growth mindset in your kids. I read it to my kindergarten class last January, and they're still calling their drawings or mistakes or brain farts "ish". They loved the book, we all loved the message, and they ask me to read it over and over again. It's good for older kids, too! The world is made of ish things, and sometimes when we don't produce exactly what we want, we just gotta shrug and say it's ish.A great companion to this book is The Book of Mistakes.

Total delight
My six year old grandson doesn't sit still for much. I brought this book to him today, but before I even gave it to him, we went to a mega playground, out to lunch and then to the beach for a couple of hours. Then I realized I really wanted to read the book to him before we left. He sat down with me and was very engaged by the story and wasn't restless or impatient. We both loved the sweet story and charming illustrations. The first thing he said was I'm going to ask my mom to read that to me again later. It doesn't get any better than that.

What makes something "good"?
Peter Reynolds takes readers on a journey of discovery as it relates to art in the book. But the story is much deeper than art. I love that Peter Reynolds subtly tells the readers that just because someone doesn't like something we created doesn't mean others won't find it amazing. This is a picture book for kids, but it speaks to anyone in the business of creating.

Whimsically and artistically done. A boy paints and his little sister sees the beauty in his work. A touching story for young and old. The book is short but, what a powerful lesson for us all. Look for the beauty in all you see. This book is an Accelerated Reader making it all the more popular at our school. It is part of the Growth Mindset materials.

Love this book
I love this book. It has such a good message written so well. Inspiring. My kids like it. The pictures are great. I love that it features non-white characters as only a small amount of children’s books do. I and my family are white, and I am seeking ways such as books and toys to immerse some different ethnicities into their lives as the norm, instead of most things they (and children of any color) read or play with featuring only white characters. Buy this book for sure.

Adorable!!!
It's kind of hard to find books that my son likes, I like, AND can be used in a classroom - this fits all the criteria!!! It's such a cute book! The best part is, it inspires creativity while also showing the mean and nice sides of others- teaching child not only to keep doing art (or living artistically/creatively) but to also not to always listen to those who are negative. I loved it - I have it as an ebook but I will def be buying the hardcover!

Librarian Baby Shower
My best friend is a librarian/media teacher at an elementary school and requested a book themed baby shower for her first! As one of the hosts, I purchased this book in hard back for the guest book at the shower and she loved it!!! She says this is one of her favorite books to read to the kids! Highly recommend!

Great story, great message
This is an unusual and clever book that has become an instant hit with 4 & 5 year olds. Celebrates the power of doing things your way and not trying to fit someone else's mould of 'perfection'. A pleasure to read and the message seems to have been internalised by 5 year old.

A nice story that teaches children that their work doesn’t have to be perfect.
My daughter read this book in school and asked me to get it for her. It’s a nice book for children and the moral of the story is that things don’t have to be done perfectly which I liked as children can often get hung up on things when they are learning.

Great theme to undertake for this age group BUT...
Similar to other review of book by same author, this is a brave topic to address with young children which is long overdue. However, both illustrations and writing fall short of the quality I would expect to give it a higher rating.

Essential reading for helping children embrace their creativity
Lovely story and really helps children get past the perfectionist-block in their art.

Wonderful message
Love the way this book presents ideas about perfectionism to kids and adults alike - there are other ways to look at things and the book explains this simply and beautifully.

Someday is a better book
I read the other book called "Someday", thought this one could be equally good.Somehow I am not impressed, maybe it's not suitable for my reading. The baby seems taking it fine.
