Blue Eyes A Keeper
I have been studying the Jewish Roots of Christianity since 1980, after my wife and I attended a one day workshop presented by Jews for Jesus. I have read a fairly large number of books on the subject but this one was way above average and helpful. Actually, for someone that hasn't ever looked into this before, this book is an excellent resource. However, even if you have been doing it for 31 years like me, it still had a lot of really good material and it didn't hurt to review the things I had learned in the past. For me, the first half of the book was more basic, but the latter half was really good and had lots of new things to share and I really appreciate Derek's work in this book. I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to know the "real" background of our faith in Yeshua, whether beginner or old timer like me.When I read pages 118-119 (Exploring the World of Jewish Thought) in the copy I bought, I though Derek had taken some of those thoughts right out of my own diary. All I can say is Leman has "been there, done that" and definitely knows what he is talking about. Again, my personal thanks to him for the book.

Opened my eyes
Prior to reading this book, I had not thought deeply about the Jewish roots of Jesus. In the black church in which I grew up, the stained-glass windows had a rather European-looking Jesus, and so I always thought Jesus was European. Jesus Didn't Have Blue Eyes opened my eyes to a deeper and richer understanding of who Jesus is and who he was when he walked on earth. Reading this book has made my worship more authentic because it places Jesus in his propert context.

Great read for those beginning to explore the Jewish roots of the Christian faith
This was great. It was engaging and informative. I recommend it for anyone wanting to know the context of the Jewish Rabbi and Messiah, Yeshua of Nazareth. So much understanding is lost without know this context (much of which was intentionally buried). This book unlocks that understanding. Great to give to someone curious about all this 'Messianic stuff'. -Gabriel Rutledge

Great re-centering of our ideas
I was reading the other reviews and someone pointed out that they disagreed with the title. That is funny to me, because that is what I like best. One of my earliest memories of going to church was a painting this small town babtist church had above its baptismal. It was a blue eyed, blond headed Jesus leading a flock of sheep. This book is an approiate correction to our european understanding of a Jewish man.
