C++ All-in-One For Dummies

It takes clear steps so that I am capable in progamming C++ by the time I'm finished reading the book.Then I can learn controllers to remotely monitor the use of devices.

Have been a non-professional C-language programmer for many years, and increasingly encounter C++ in projects and papers. This book provides clarification of language aspects to which I didn't have previous exposure. I'm very happy to have a broad, readable reference at a reasonable price. Fills my need.

Pretty good, though I don't favor functional programming, not a bad introduction to the concept.

If you just started your programmer journey in c++ that book is must have in your book shelf. Easy explain everything what you need to do and why. Example codes wrote inside the book, easy reading.

Great book!

I would certainly recommend this book to a newcomer and also as a reference.I'm in no means an expert but more than novice in many programming languages. As a 24 year military veteran who has scrolled through the plethora of technical orders and written directional documentation from assembling munitions, bombs, disposing of them to testing nuclear missiles and the like, I'd have to say looking through John's books on my journey through C++, gave me some insight into learning a new language. I have many C++ references now including of course this one! In all these books have been far less jargon-filled and great on being layman understandable than most other references.Although there are some errors, as other's have pointed out, it's not uncommon for some code to be omitted when examples are being discussed as in page 124 on the (x or rather int x). Also, in the regards to the comma operator not not being used as the && conjunction, agreed. However I took it in discussion that both i and j are individual and unique inputs/outputs (maybe this could be clarified a bit more?). My compiler certainly did follow i <=5 and j >=20 as outputted in the photo attached for both examples on page 124.Beyond that, I'd have to say bravo for the Android support, really well organized and easy to thumb through as a reference due to the clearly visible gray-shaded tabs at the sides of the pages. I especially like the Functional Programming section because in the older book, it had a smaller section and was sprawled throughout the book.Another thing to remember when reading someone else's books, very few are perfect or spot on but that's the journey of a life long learner, to see inconsistencies, understand them and move forward to becoming more astute.

This is hands down one the best resources for learning C++. My husband bought a copy of this book and it's all he's been reading lately. Showing me various programs he's working on through the book as well as his own. He recommends getting this book for anyone looking for a fun and interesting way to learn the language.

Great how-to book for beginners. Easy to follow and has links to everything needed to learn C++ coding.

I had to know what to aim at as the book doesn't explicitly say how to build this. I needed to read and understand each principle and see where they fit together.The book started very simply, and I thought this isn't good. But it's not afraid to help the reader grow in understanding. It informed me there are even open source compilers, free to download! It took me 5 weeks to get my head around what these ideas and concepts mean and I believe I have cracked it.The book skillfully covers its remit and above this level and gets into library usage and stuff above what I require at the moment. Product arrived quickly. This C++ book is wonderful as it explains this complicated language in easy understandable terms. Very happy with the order.

I’m learning!!

This book is a very easy read and is a complete course to follow. I switched to this from YouTube videos as it's easier to recap when needed. I have the Kindle version, but it's no different to a paper copy.
